By Fred Amora (published in the Bohol Standard)
I am back after a short sojourn as I feverishly campaigned in my hometown Guindulman offering myself as town councilor.
I garnered a resounding 2,330 votes and these were
“not boughtâ€.As almost all candidates scour all homes with their money ranging from P1,000 to P700 per voter, I was sitting in comfort knowing that one single vote counted in my favor would be victory enough for me.
I never joined the frenzy of vote-buying despite some financial offer from close friends and relatives. I would be fooling myself if I won knowing that the votes counted were product of vote-buying, a practice that had dealt a vicious cycle in our society.
What honor is there in winning, maybe as a mayor or a councilor, knowing for yourself you are not fit even to manage a mortuary association?
It breeds corruption as these elected officials will have to recover their spent money when in position. Ang naay kwarta dili matagbaw, mao nay tinuood; mao nga ayaw mo too nga sila gustong mosilbi ninyo.
It is foolish pride that enslaved these poor, stupid souls.
You are a winner (through vote buying but you know you are just fu...x#$! ! yourself).

Next election, I think I won’t be joining the list of candidates.
I will turn 33 (?) in 2010, and that’s a God-ordained time for me to establish a new Church of the Final Millennium.
Watch out for Fred Amora in his soon-to-be-launched ministry that

Well anyway, to make it appear that I am not a sour loser, Congratulations sa tanang midaog sa miaging piniliay!
Ayaw mog paka-uwaw ha, kay inyong manang gusto nga tawgon mo’g Honorable.
