What happens to the towns who have earlier declared illegal numbers game free and where swertres has been observed to resurge?
With the perceived resurgence of the illegal numbers game in swetres-free towns, PSSupt. Constantino Barot said Camp Dagohoy has also seen the ongoing resolve to keep on the fight.
Over this, he hinted that town leaders still deserve the due process.
At least 22 towns have declared themselves freed from illegal numbers game after new provincial director Barot assumed command at Camp Dagohoy.
The mayors, police station commanders, local government operations officer and even the church sector representatives signed the illegal-numbers game declaration.
At the media presentation of the 22 towns, PSSupt. Barot also hinted that a declaration would give police higher headquarters a clue where to start its verification as to the veracity of the declarations.
Barot hinted that as the Philippine National Police is implementing one strike policy, a similar policy would be in place to chek on the truth of the declarations.
A few days after the list was made public, the media noted the resurgence, as residents who were monitoring the anti-swertres operations saw otherwise.
On a provincial peace and order council meeting, Provincial Prosecutor Macario Delusa has hinted that the cessation could be temporary as it usually happens when a new provincial director assumes seat.
Asked if the declarations would now be used as an evidence to prosecute and determine liability of the signatories, Psupt. Barot said that several chiefs of police among the 22 towns have admitted they also noted the resurgence.
He however added that there has been incessant resolve and campaigns by those involved to rid their towns of the swertres.
Clarin Mayor Allen Rey Piezas, one of the mayors who said his town has been cleared said he has given the go signal for the police to be relentless against illegal gambling including swertres.
On this, provincial director Barot said as they have seen the new instructions to go against illegal gambling, the higher police headquarters may weigh the possibilities against legal remedies. (racPIABohol)
