Duterte to Cayetano: " I won't abandon you" "I am always with him. I won't abandon him."
This is what presidential bet Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said about vice presidential bet Senate majority leader Alan Peter Cayetano following the outcome of the latest survey results wherein his running mate is lagging behind.
Duterte noted that he and Cayetano would have to work even harder to boost the senator's survey ratings.
"We have to work harder, Alan has to work harder," Duterte told the media during their campaign sortie in Valenzuela City last Wednesday, March 9.
In the latest surveys, Cayetano trailed behind other vice presidential candidates, Francis "Chiz" Escudero, Bongbong Marcos, at Leni Robredo.
Duterte's ranking, meanwhile, improved the most in the February to March Laylo surveys.
In a public gathering also in the city, Duterte had nothing but good words for Cayetano, describing his running mate as "the most decent person to have entered politics."
The mayor further clarified that he remains a hundred percent supportive of Cayetano despite a controversial statement he made when he was campaigning in the Ilocos region. He said he was only invited there by a close supporter of the Marcos clan.
Duterte had earlier said that voters who will not vote for Cayetano as their vice president should forget about voting for him as well.
