Provincial Administrator Tomas Abapo Jr. belied yesterday a newspaper report that the provincial government has given a dole out to the Bohol Farmers’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Bofamco).
The alleged “dole out†was exposed by FREEMAN correspondent Ric. V. Obedencio, published by the Bohol STANDARD last Sunday.Abapo said that the P5 million appropriated for the Bofamco Plant Now, Pay Later Hybrid Rice Seeds Program is a loan without interest.
In fact, the amount will have to be liquidated by Bofamco after the harvest seasons.
The PNPL Project is designed for Bofamco members to produce hybrid rice seeds for distribution to farmers in Bohol in order to give these farmers the opportunity to increase their rice yields.
He said that the records at the Provincial Treasurer’s Office would show that Bofamco has religiously paid the funding of the provincial government which ranges from P1.5 million to P3 million.
In another development, Bofamco Manager Frank Marsamolo said that the alleged bouncing checks paid by the cooperative to the Davao Oriental Seed Producers Cooperative were already settled.
The issuance of the questioned checks, he said, was due to procedural lapses committed by Bofamco treasurer Francisca Oclarit who was then in Manila.
