Gov. Erico Aumentado has denounced political dynasties being perpetuated by some Bohol politicians and vowed that he will "never allow a single member of his family to run for public office while he is governor."
The governor lamented that until now, the Anti Dynasty Bill has not been acted upon by the country's legislators.
Aumentado bared during his weekly radio program The Governor Reports that he authored and filed the bill during his incumbency as congressman of the second district.
The Senate version of said bill was crafted by then Sen. Wigberto Tanada, he said.
Aumentado explained that the bill was filed in accordance with the constitutional provision that ban politicians to endorse close relatives within the fourth degree of consanguinity in seeking elective positions at the same time.
However, such constitutional provision requires an enabling congressional law to be implemented, the governor said, hence, the Anti Dynasty Bill.
This pronouncements by the governor came in the midst of scions and relatives of powerful political families fighting over Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan seats.
