By Rey Anthony Chiu

Bohol Police SSupt. Constantino Barot said crime incidence in the month of October in Bohol has gone down considerably.

Saying this as a victory, Bohol local enforcement authorities would like to credit the intensified anti-crime campaigns and operations of law enforcement authorities.

Another military source said the intensified checkpoint operations conducted by police and military or joint tem in the enforcement of election related peace keeping efforts worked for Bohol this time.

At the Provincial Peace and Order Council Meeting today November 9, 2010 at the People's Mansion, PSSUpt Barot cited an 11.8% decrease in index crimes at 210 cases for the period.

The figures are compared to the crime volume reported on the earlier month.

A slight increase however is noted on non-index crimes at 11.6% with 67 recorded cases for the month province wide.

On the fear of possible threat groups including terrorists, Barot told the council there are none operating in Bohol, based on their intelligence networks.

Police intelligence agents however are now verifying unconfirmed reports of sparrow units hiding in Bohol, he said.

He also confirmed the presence and establishment of Bohol White Area Committee (BWAC) 1 and 2 as signs of early recovery efforts of the communist insurgents who have been driven off Bohol by its combined government and civil society anti-insurgency efforts.

Another BWAC is on the onset of establishment, military intelligence reports said. (PIABohol)
