Philippine Information AgencyAt this time, the government has not ironed out a way to solve the reported P1.2B cost over-runs of the Bohol Irrigation Project II in Malinao, Representative Roberto Cajes confirmed this during a radio interview.
The project, which the Department of Agriculture listed in its special projects management assistance division costs P3.62B and uses a P2.74 B loan from the Japan Bank of International Cooperation and P.8B government counterpart which is set to benefit 3549 farmers.
The dam in Pilar is set to be through by December this year but has reportedly used up its funds.
Over this, irrigation authorities and local government officials have asked from government additional funding to complete the project.
Former Socio-Economic and Planning Secretary Romulo Neri has reportedly shelved the request, but the local officials here are still looking for funding sources to complete the project.
The irrigation facilities’ cover the municipalities of Ubay, Trinidad and San Miguel, well within Cong. Cajes’ coverage.
Rep. Cajes said he is monitoring on the projects progress and wants to meet affected farmers to discuss still unresolved issues brought about by the facilities.
