The Department of Justice (DOJ) is studying the possibility of raising the reward money for the arrest of the so-called "Big 5," who all have a P2-million bounty each for their head.
In a press conference, DOJ Secretary Leila M. De Lima said Tuesday that they were studying whether to increase the reward money for the arrest of retired Army Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan, Jr.; parricide convict, former Dinagat Island Rep. Ruben Ecleo, Jr.; former Palawan Gov. Joel Reyes; Coron, Palawan Mayor Mario Reyes; and Delfin Lee, of Globe Asiatique.
Included in the plan of the DOJ is the dissemination of the posters of the "Big 5" in different barangays nationwide.
Of the five fugitives from justice, De Lima said, they received information that only the Reyes brothers who traveled to Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia.
De Lima also saidd that there was a "surrender feeler" from the camp of former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Director Jose Taruc V.
Taruc is one of the 10 former PCSO officials who were charged with plunder before the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan involving the alleged misuse of P366 million confidential/intelligence funds of the PCSO.
