AIDS in Bohol?
« on: July 30, 2007, 09:58:33 AM »
Written By Ric V. Obedencio
The Bohol Chronicle

Boholano overseas workers and their loved ones are warned of the high risk of being afflicted with Human Immuno Virus/Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) while working abroad.

Program manager Lawrence Castro of the PATH Foundation Philippines, Inc., (PFPI) a private non-stock, non-profit non-government organization that deals with health and environment, issued the statement amid escalation of the dreaded disease that still do not have a cure yet.

He told Contact Point over DyRD, in an exclusive interview last week, that 35% of the more than documented cases of HIV/AIDS in the country are OFWs. But he did not say how many Boholanos are affected by the disease.

PATH Foundation, which held an activity on social mobilization last week at Metro Center Hotel here, said that it now focuses on helping educate the families and dependents of the OFWs in six municipalities including this city considering the number of OFWs and tourism industry in these places. The project sites/towns involved in the program are Panglao, Dauis, Jagna, Loboc, Maribojoc and Tubigon.

The Foundation launched the multi-disciplinary approaches to address the risks the disease may bring. This includes "peer-mediated behavior change communications, policy or advocacy and capacity building.

But all these approaches would not be possible without the collaboration and cooperation of others like government agencies, local government units, NGOs to carry out interventions to the targeted beneficiaries.

Castro said that the virus can may be transmitted, not only by sexual encounter with other person not one's husband or wife, but also by blood transfusion and a mother bearing a child.

He also said that there is that so-called "theoretical risk," meaning there is a high possibility that the use of nail-cleaning tools could facilitate the transfer of the virus.

three years ago, i got a confidential report from a friend who's working in a health and life insurance. she had secured list of boholano people who have AIDS from bohol. there are 6 who were identified in bohol.

last year, a friend of mine (who's incharge of blood testing) told me (she didn't mention name because of secrecy) that a man came to donate to the hospital to donate blood... the man appeared "saint"..and it was found that this guy (who worked in a resto here in bohol) has AIDS.

most of the filipinos think they are immune to HIV/AIDS. some don't know they have it already. :(

To Aids Victim:

I recommend to drink BIO ENZYME PLUS its effected it is now in Bohol my stockist na sa Tagbilaran . We have cured Aids victims who were mostly OFW's now back to work a sila.
1 bottle a day. No overdose naman ang bio enzyme but drink it in cool water because its not adviseable na hot water and gamiton kasi ma-destroy and enzyme. Goodluck and no worry Aids is free and Aids doesnt matter.

With this thing called "theoretical risk", BEAUTY PARLORS and BARBER SHOPS should now come under the supervision of the Department of Health.  Wow! it would mean an additional USEC!  USEC For Parlors and Salons.  I like that position.

Let's face it most Philippine persons while engaging in sex do not use any form of protection as a condom may be to shamefull to but as your worried about what other's may be thinking?
look at the population growth here.
WOW!
Philippines as well as the rest of world better get a wake up call on over aides (ing) and over population.
I have lost track of the hospital birth bills I have paid for Philippine persons who do not have a centavo to their name but a basket full of babies instead.
Do not have kids if you do not have money.
Look at your streets is that not enough education in itself?
Be vigilant of aides and over populating.
Resources are small all over this country and keep getting smaller with every baby born here.
Use common sense and take good care of yourself and your community around you.
