It is a vindication for the Monton family as a document, earlier tightly kept by the MMG Coop Hospital, was finally secured Friday afternoon.
The document “Statement of Account†was in the name of Nemesio Monton, a respected sportsman and civic leader. It contained bill of particulars regarding his admission to the coop hospital on April 16-19, 2007.
“This document will clear once and for all the malicious accusations that my account was bloated to include a previous hospital account, allegedly of my grandson Raymund Monton, and charged to the Blue Card health program,†the elder Monton said.
The document released by the MMG Coop Hospital billing clerk showed “no other account†added on top of the bill of the elder Monton.
This week, the allegation was circulated through text and mentioned in a radio interview by city councilor Zenaido Rama that Mark Monton, the former executive assistant of Mayor Dan Lim and now chief of the City General Services Office (GSO), called a coop hospital clerk to include in his father Nemesio’s hospital bill the unpaid account of his son Raymund dating back to 1998.
Rama quoted MMG coop hospital board chairman Dr. Grace Araneta who allegedly revealed the Monton hospital bill in the Blue Card Sangguniang Panlungsod joint-committee hearing last week.
Mark Monton vehemently denied the accusation and challenged his critics to produce documents to prove the allegation. The elder Monton, on his own, wasted no time to clear his name by securing the original Statement of Account of his admission at the coop hospital.
“Documents don’t lie. Who is now telling the truth?†Nemi Monton said.
But other than cleansing their names, the elder Monton is now consulting his lawyer for a suit he is preparing against coop hospital officials and a city councilor who maligned their reputation.
