The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) facilitated the medical attention for six mentally handicapped constituents who were suffering health problems.
Two of them were battered wives, three were victims of vehicular accidents and one was sick with typhoid fever.
Through the financial assistance from the municipal government they availed of medical services from Ramiro Community Hospital in Tagbilaran City.
Now, two of them have returned to normal lives with their families while the others still continue with the monthly medical check-up and medication through the financial support of the municipal government.
Acting upon reports from barangay officials and concerned citizens, MSWDO Head Zosima Gabisan instructed Social Welfare Officer Albert Lagumbay and Eleuteria Pañares to immediately conduct home visits and interviewed them.
The victims belong to big families that are financially unstable.
Upon learning of their conditions, Mayor Juanario Item ordered the release of financial assistance for their medical check-up and medication.
