The Hukbong Mag-uumang Bol-anon (Humabol) head Ruben Sabior has been blamed by certain elements as having knowledge about the attempted slay try on
Talibon Police Chief Domino Pelecio by two armed men last June 26, 2010.
The police chief suffered a wound but escaped death. The attack was believed to have been inflicted by members of the Sparrow Unit of the New People's Army. Humabol said however, that the attempted slay could have been spurred by a personal grudge as well.
This came after the government had declared that the province as free from insurgency elements.
A letter with a black ribbon was sent by a group identified as "Tinud-anay nga nangandoy sa kalinaw sa Bohol" to Sabior (address in Bagacay) left at the residence of Rey Abaniel, Chapter leader of Humabol in TTFA, San Vicente,
Talibon Bohol.
The letter alleged that it was Sabior who decides to inflict punishment on reported "informants of government" and warned Sabior and his allies that death will hound them "if they continue to support the activities of the Sparrow unit."
Humabol fears for the safety of their leader as they claimed that even under the new Aquino regime the Operation Bantay Laya II is still in progress. Such a group, Humabol, said "does not make a distinction in operating against the armed component and militant activists" who operate for reforms in the open.
