The fractious Sangguniang Panglungsud succeeded to hurdle Friday an opposition hump to defer action on plans to buy a 23-hectare property in Taloto to pave the way for the construction of two major city infrastructure.
Killed on the spot was the motion of Kagawad Bibiano Inting to defer action of Proposed Resolution No. 10708 forcing V-Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso, city presiding officer of the city council, to write finis to his colleague’s proposal.
That being the case, the resolution authorizing Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim to purchase lots for the construction and operation of the Tagbilaran City Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility and the Centralized Waste Water Treatment Facility in barangay Taloto, was carried out.
Inting and his opposition minded partners in the SP—Kagawads Zenaido Rama, Mariquit Anne Oppus and Edgar Kapirig, moved to defer the resolution authored by Kagawad Nereo Zamora II.
The four argued that pending submission of a resolution from the Taloto barangay council, it would be prudent on the part of the SP to set aside any action on the authority given to the city mayor to purchase the lots.
The four also wanted an assurance from city hall that it has the capacity to prosecute the two giant projects.
But the protestations of Inting and company were met with stiff opposition by Kagawads Oscar Glovasa and Zamora.
Both administration kagawads were emphatic in their defense to pass the proposed resolution noting its urgency especially so that it was intended to solve once and for all the recurring flooding problem along CPG North Avenue.
