From FB Post of Tagbilaran Tatler. PICTURES OF MY TAGBILARAN. Decades ago when life was simpler, the main street of town used to be called Libertad Street. Both pictures are undated but a closer look at the pictures will you the exact year when they were taken. Can you guess? The picture on top shows one building that still stands today, Policarpo's. The one behind it used to house the other department store in town then- VL Enterprises owned by the Lao's. Further to the back was the old Rainbow Hotel building with Villa Ondolana Light below. Of the picture below one sees the corner building where New Vision Commercial used to hold shop and where later the first Alturas store opened its doors to the public. Behind it is Desoy's and Cia Lim's. Across the street is the old Farmacia Libertad. Now you know why the same drugstore today is called by such a name. Because I went to Bohol High School, I used to walk this street at least four times a day for four years so the buildings, the people, the sound and the charm of a growing city have remained as deep markings on my memory.
