I agree 100%. All movies with book versions can never justify the beauty and imagery of the printed materials. I do watch movies based from books to see how the characters are portrayed in the big screen, to see how apt the choices are, and that's all. Nothing can beat books. I prefer curling up in my hammock on a lazy Saturday with a good book than watching movies or gallivanting around town.

Gawd, this will be my last post until next week. I'm hosting Chin's 4-day visit to BKK. I'm so gonna miss TB.

Anyway, if you really want to read a good fantasy that unites philosophy, mystery, and magic, I strongly suggest Ursula K. Le Guin's A Wizard of Earthsea and the some other books in the Earthsea Cycle.

They have really good actors in the cast, though. Maggie Smith is a favorite. She was especially fun in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. And a little hot then, too (of course, this was way back in the 60's, when she must have been 30-ish.).
