The Bohol ChronicleBohol Detention and Rehabilitation Center (BDRC) Warden and retired Col. Raul Mendez doused reports that they are threatened by a mass jailbreak by some 300 inmates.
BDRC jailguards who were concerned of security inside the BDRC told the Chronicle that the threat is real as prisoners are allegedly congregating more often than they used to.
The twenty-five detention cells at the prison facility still do not have padlocks, revealed one jailguard who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Last April 13, the BDRC inmates staged a riot and destroyed all sliding iron bars to their detention cells.
Although the iron bars have been replaced and repaired, the padlocks are not yet purchased and allegedly delayed due to government procurement procedures.
Mendez reportedly issued a memorandum on Thursday, placing all jail guards to be on "double red alert" status.
