Dilapidated Fishing Vessels at Tagbilaran Bay
« on: October 21, 2008, 06:08:45 AM »
Police Supt. Julius Caesar Gornez, Tagbilaran City Police Chief, yesterday said he was alarmed by the clutter of dilapidated fishing vessels along the shoreline of sitio Ubos.

The particular area where they are located is the back of the old city hall.

The sight of abandoned motor boats caught the attention of the city police chief during the massive coastal clean-up  two weeks ago.

According to Supt. Gornez, the possibility of using the broken down vessels as sanctuary of criminal elements after pulling off a caper in this city, is not remote.

The clutter of abandoned vessels have been used as temporary or permanent shelter of some transient city residents.

Occupying these dilapidated vessels are mostly candle vendors plying their trade at the St. Joseph Cathedral.

In expressing alarm over the shoreline eyesore, the city police chief  said he will initiate the clean up of the area. He said he was bothered by the vessels presence at the back of the old city hall.

Not only that it was unsightly to see the  old motor boats, they also posed sanitation problem in the place. - Sunday Post
