Re-elected City Mayor Dan Lim and running mate Vice Mayor Nuevas Montes were proclaimed yesterday afternoon by the Board of Canvassers as election returns from 58 clustered precincts were counted and recorded in the first automated election in the country.
Lim won the mayoralty race with 24,061 votes against his lone rival Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso who got 15,726 votes. Since it was a one-on-one mayoralty race, the margin was high at 8,335 votes.
VM Montes got 23,184 votes while her opponent, Barangay Capt. Glorivic Yap de la Serna garnered 12,801.
Lim is serving his last term as city mayor while Montes is making a comeback to city hall as she once served the same position under former Mayor Joe Torralba.
