Balong, thank you for the support of this tournament. Naay babaye nga Bol-anon nga hapit na ma woman grandmaster, si Jedara Docena. Tua sa FEU Manila gitagaan ug scholarship ug gisweldohan sa eskwelahan. Niadto lang sa Manila kay walay suporta diri sa Bohol. Daghang basketball tournament diri pero walay chess tournament.

Plano nako nga didto sa Island City Mall ang venue ani nga event. I will talk to the management of ICM kung pwede ba gamiton ang ilang venue.

I agree nga sa January 2013 na ni nato istart.

Magkolekta ta ug minimal registration fee that will cover the T-Shirt, ID, and snacks. Sa Cebu nga mga chess tournament, ang pinakadako nga price is P3,000 - winner take all.

ready na ni Balong. After my final exam, magpaprinta pud ko ug banner para mabutang sa mga eskina sa Tagbilaran. palihug ko dugang sa banner:

Ang gamiton ani is Swiss Round System. Kung daghan ang player, 11 rounds ni. The game can be done every weekend sa ICM. After 11 rounds, we'll get the top 4 who will battle for the Best of 7 Finals (fighting for 1st and 2nd) and fighting for (3rd and 4th place).

sa akong nahibaloan, ang chess tournament nga naay prize nga P20,000, moapil na ana ang mga grandmasters. Daghang moapil sa tournament basta naay grandmaster nga moparegister kay garbo man pud nila kung makapilde ug grandmaster. Ug bisan na-engkwentro na nila ang usa ka grandmaster, malipay na ang mga chess players ana kay that's equivalent nga nakadula ka against an NBA player.

So far, diri sa Pilipinas, ang Shell (global corporation) nagpasiugda ug annual Shell Open Chess Tournament. Championship prize is P20,000.

Balong is right. I am the one who suggested the Rene Balong Econg Open Chess Tournament. I was thinking of offering the idea to a politician but I was avoiding of political indebtedness. Since Balong is not a politician, and has been known in Maribojoc to have sponsored several basketball tournaments, I suggested to him whether he is agreeable to sponsor a chess tournament in Bohol. This idea came to me upon learning that there is now a Boholano (first ever) who is a candidate for a Grandmaster Title. His name is Oliver Dimakiling. Bohol also has a Woman National Master. Her name is Jedara Docena. Observers predict she would also get a Grandmaster Title five years from now.

The title of the tournament is solely my preference. This is the practice done in most chess tournaments when there is only one person who is the source/sponsor for all prizes, thus the Rene Balong Econg Open Chess Tournament.

Balong is right. I am the one who suggested the Rene Balong Econg Open Chess Tournament. I was thinking of offering the idea to a politician but I was avoiding of political indebtedness. Since Balong is not a politician, and has been known in Maribojoc to have sponsored several basketball tournaments, I suggested to him whether he is agreeable to sponsor a chess tournament in Bohol. This idea came to me upon learning that there is now a Boholano (first ever) who is a candidate for a Grandmaster Title. His name is Oliver Dimakiling. Bohol also has a Woman National Master. Her name is Jedara Docena. Observers predict she would also get a Grandmaster Title five years from now.

The title of the tournament is solely my preference. This is the practice done in most chess tournaments when there is only one person who is the source/sponsor for all prizes, thus the Rene Balong Econg Open Chess Tournament.

i am humbled thus. please accept my apologies for my comments the basis of which i didn't fully understand, considering the gaps in what can be read openly. i hope balong comes back to go on with a worthwhile project. everything is clear now. besides, why be affected with a comment from someone like me, who am a failed chess player? please give yourself this break, sir balong, and in so doing, you give everyone else this same break.

come back soon. i believe the tournament and your support of it is way above anybody's opinion, most specially mine.

After Balong's tournament, I am thinking of requesting Bran Lorenzo to sponsor another tournament to be held during the Summer of 2013 (perhaps Bran Lorenzo Chess Tournament 2013 Summer Edition) para ma-sustain nato ang interest sa chess ug dunay monthly or quarterly tournament.

There is no limit as to how much prize will be given. Depende na sa mo-sponsor. Ang ato lang maka-encourage ta sa mga butan-an nga mo-engage into the game of chess as this has been proven to be a good exercise for mental development.
