MANILA, Dec. 28 (PNA) -- The Philippines has nominated three athletes to compete in chinlone, a team sport under sepak takraw that is calendared in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) in Malaysia.
Chinlone, which is a combination of sports and dance, was introduced by Myanmar when it hosted the 2013 SEAG. The sport has four events namely linking, same stroke, non-repetition primary and non-repetition secondary.
Philippine Amateur Sepak Takraw Association (PASTA) President Karen Caballero told DZSports Radio on Wednesday said that Asian Chinlone Association president, Sopnaing, was in the country this week to offer a month-long free training for national athletes and coaches in Myanmar.
Caballero said the chinlone official has high respect for the Filipino takraw athletes after winning the silver in the 2015 Singapore SEAG and the gold at the World Championship in Thailand last October.
She has expressed hope that her athletes would keep their momentum and bring more honors to the country. (PNA)
