Proving his mastery of the game, top seed Johnny Arcilla of Butuan City blasted number two seed Ronard Joven of General Santos City 6-1, 6-3 to add the Panglao Island Green Clay Men’s Open Tennis Championship to his strings of victories. Keeping his opponent at bay with consistent shots, Arcilla was never threatened during the entire game. PHILTA Representative and Tournament Director Tom Falcis declared Arcilla the champion while Atty. Gonzaga handed the trophy and P20,000 cash. For his losing effort, Ronard Joven got the runner-up P12,000 prize.
Panglao Island Green Clay Men’s Open Tennis Championship attracted 28 tennis players from all over the country. Not to be outshone, 10 Boholano potentials also participated in the tournament.
The venue of the first Panglao Island Green Clay Men’s Open Tennis Championship was the PINR Green Clay Court. The one-of-its kind in the entire country, PINR Green Clay Court was installed to conform to international standards. (BQ Mall press release)
