Calape Mayor Dr. Junie Yu confirmed last week that Candijay-born Rey “Boom Boom†Bautista will take on an Argentinian pugilist sometime in November at the Calape Cultural and Sports Center.
Dr. Yu accepted the offer of City Mayor Dan Neri Lim (one of the benefactors of the Boholano boxer) to stage a boxing match in Calape featuring the former World Boxing Organization champion of the Asia Pacific.
His opponent in the Calape match is yet to be named. To be handled by SGG Promotions of boxing patron Antonio L. Aldeguer, the Calape fight is expected to be a blockbuster considering “Boom Boom's†wide following in Bohol.
The previously undefeated Boholano pug has just suffered a humiliating setback against a more experienced slugger in Mexican Daniel Ponce de Leon, the reigning WBO super bantamweight champion, in fight at the Arco Arena in Sacramento California last August 12.
