When Freddie Roach broached the idea of seeing Manny Pacquiao fight Shane Mosley next, he was speaking as a fan.Whether he's ready to back that challenge up as a trainer -- well, does anyone doubt that he can't weave his magic for the umpteenth time?
The Los Angeles Times reported on its Web site on Monday that Roach was interested to see a Mosley-Pacquiao showdown next.
"As a fan, it's the fight I'd most want to see," Roach said in a report by Lance Pugmire.
Coveting the 37-year-old Mosley might be pushing the envelope as far as searching for Pacquiao's next opponent is.
Although he's a natural welterweight, Mosley has gone up as high as 154 pounds in a competitive match. He once held the world light-middleweight championship when he wrested it from Oscar de la Hoya in 2003.
Mosley destroyed Antonio Margarito in a welterweight world-title match last January in only his second ring assignment in 13 months.
But Roach won't go heavy on this one. He said he'll only let Pacquiao take on Mosley (46-5, win-loss) at a catch weight of about 143 pounds.
