The Philippine women's boxing team will start taking every international exposure more seriously following its event's inclusion to the 2012 London Olympics calendar.
In fact, the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines will be sending six of their toughest fighters to the Asian Indoor Games on Oct. 30 to Nov. 8 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Veterans Mitchell Martinez, Alice Kate Aparri and Annie Albania headline the squad composed of Josie Gabuco, Annalisa Cruz and Nesthy Petecio.
Except for Petecio, an upcoming neophyte, all RP team members are world championships medalists.
Albania, the lone gold winner in the 2007 Thailand Southeast Asian Games, boasts a 52 kgs silver medal in the 2008 Ningbo edition, while Gabuco and Cruz bagged bronze in the same meet.
Martinez, for her part, snatched two bronze medals in the 60kgs class of the 2005 Podolsk and 2006 New Delhi editions, while Aparri won the 48kgs bronze in 2006. - the Bohol Chronicle
