Does Anyone Play Soccer in Tagbi?
« on: November 12, 2007, 07:04:38 PM »
My 15-year-old son is an avid soccer player and is a member of the soccer club in junior high here.

Anyone knows of a team or a group that he can join while in Tagbi, which will be starting April next year?

Ben, we don't have a soccer field in Tagbilaran. But your son can use the CPG Complex for his soccer practice. There is a ball field there.

Ben, I suggest you send your son to Silliman University in Dumaguete. There are active soccer teams there who have been competing in national championships. Soccer is very much part of many students' activities in Negros.

Yup. There is. My cousin plays soccer in CPG Sports Complex every afternoon. There is a group, I suppose, that regularly meets there.

Meanwhile, good soccer summer clinics are aplenty in Cebu. Phil Younghusband of Manchester United used to play in the Cebu International School Team.

The school where I teach, HOME OF THE BEST SOCCER TEAM in CEBU, also conducts Verano Boys Club from April to May. It's a clinic for sports and hobbies, from soccer to painting and is open to everyone.

You may get in touch with the coordinator in April. By then, the programs are nailed already.

Hi RV,

Thanks for this valuable info. Though my two daughters look forward to schooling in Tagbi, my son balked at first because there might not be a soccer team he can join. I'd appreciate it if you could introduce me to your cousin in April.

I don't really want my kids to be disoriented as this will be the longest time they will be spending in the Philippines. So I want all of them in Tagbi, which I consider to be a relatively safer place and closer to Mactan Int'l Airport (just 5 hours from me). Another option I considered was Manila, where we also have a house, but I don't like the environment there.

I guess I 'd need more input from you when the time comes because my eldest daughter is into arts and wants to find her own circle. She just received the Tsukuba City mayor's grand prize for her painting entered into a city-wide competition during the Culture Day here last Nov. 3.

Again, daghan salamat for the info.

Naa man gani mga dagku mangduwa niini. Naa man gani team didto nga 39-yrs old & above.

Benelynne-san, if your son just wants to play, Bohol would be ok but if he wants to compete in tournaments, Cebu would be a better idea. :)
