CITY OF TAGBILARAN TO HOST CVIRAA 2008, FEBRUARY 24 TO MARCH 2, 2008
As per initial reports from Mr. Joseph Barrete, Culture and Arts Coordinator of the Tagbilaran City Schools Division during our meeting of the City Council for Culture and the Arts (CCCA) yesterday at the City Mayor’s Conference Room, the City Government of Tagbilaran under the leadership of City Mayor Dan Neri Lim (a sports enthusiast/advocate) and the Tagbilaran City School Board/ Tagbilaran City Schools Division under Dr. Elpidio Manliguez Jala, will host the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) meet on February 24 to March 1.
The annual sports event will be participated in by the school divisions from the provinces of Bohol, Cebu, Oriental Negros and Siquijor.
In the last CVIRAA jointly hosted by the Department of Education – Division of Bohol and the city division in March 2006, Jagna’s Idy Casenas Cagas representing Bohol Division was crowned Miss CVIRAA. In this year’s CVIRAA held in Dumaguete City, Oriental Negros, Idy turned over the crown to Tagbilaran-Ubay’s pride, Johana Feliz Del Mar Pilayre. Mr. Barrete invited me to be part of the Miss CVIRAA 2008 working committee as we have worked together for the Tagbilaran Inter-School Basketball Association (TISBA) Campus Girl pageant back in November 2000 in coordination with Rev. Fr. Jose Oliverus ‘Joey’ Lerias Sepe of Divine Word College (now Holy Name University) who was the TISBA chair during that time.
We will have the meeting of the committees tomorrow, Thursday, November 21, 1:30 pm at the Cogon Elementary School, Cogon, Tagbilaran City.
