Manny Pacquiao now "Adopted Son of Bohol"
« on: June 22, 2009, 11:38:57 PM »
Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao is now a certified Boholano.

This after the Bohol Provincial Development Council (PDC), Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), and the Bohol chapters of the League of Municipalities (LMP), Vice Mayors (VMLP) and Barangays (LnB) in a joint meeting Friday at the Bohol Tropics Resort presided over by Gov. Erico Aumentado passed a joint resolution declaring the pugilist from General Santos City an adopted son of the province.

Pacquiao, his wife Jinky and their children Emmanuel Jr., 8, Michael Stephen, 7 and Mary Divine Grace, 2, – with staff and security escorts – were in Bohol for a vacation although the Pound for Pound King of Boxing’s stay was interrupted twice. Staying only for lunch when he first arrived, Pacquiao left en route to New York to receive the 2008 ‘Fighter of the Year' award from the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA). The family stayed on. It turned out that he and Aumentado were on the same boat from Cebu City.

The boxer had to leave anew last Friday however to be with his brother who was to celebrate his birthday.

Barring changes, and if his hectic schedule will still allow it, a source close to Pacquiao said he may be back on Tuesday for one week more of vacation to experience Bohol’s powdery fine white sand beaches and other sites. He will be presented with the joint resolution then.

Aumentado said the People’s Champion and the Ring Magazine’s Champion after winning his fights against Marco Antonio Barrera, Eric Morales, Oscar Larios, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar de la Hoya and Ricky Hatton who he demolished in a spectacular and unprecedented fashion definitely makes him the ultimate crowd-drawer.

Unlawful elements temporarily stop their nefarious trade – and even rebels whether in the Philippines or Iraq and elsewhere – lay down their arms and sometimes watch side by side the ring exploits of “Greatest Living Fighter in the History of the Boxing World” as nicknamed by Top Rank Chief Bob Arum.

Forbes Magazine has since placed Pacquiao in the 6th position among the world’s 10 highest paid athletes and berthed him also among the 100 Most Powerful Celebrities in the World for his spectator-drawing capacity and his legendary influence on the people of the world, especially the Philippines where during all his fights, complete peace and order reigned in the land even in areas infested by rebels and Abu Sayyaf members  because all eyes are glued to his fights via TV and the other high-tech media used for the purpose, Aumentado observed.

Time Magazine also lists him among the most influential people of the world.

His humility, religiosity and good character have also endeared him much to the public and his virtues are admired and appreciated by the Boholano people so that for his sterling deeds and admirable virtues, Pacquiao “deserves to be acknowledged as adopted son of Bohol ,” the resolution stated.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

If Bohol had adopted him, then where is his ligitimate place of residency or birth?
It never change;  If you are rich and famous,
everybody wants to be your friends and
                               claimed you as their relatives
                                     but on the other hand
If you are  poor, nobody cares nor
drop you a morsel of bread nor
                                   a glass of water.
I am so glad the Lord is not prejudice.

if you can only see how he practice..and his dedication to what he is doing, then you will understand why this man is worthy of everything that he earned in his lifetime. I don't think, that it's not being rich and famous as the reason. Lots of rich and famous out there..But rather, it's his discipline and his will to power over himself. Manny Pacquiao is one of the greatest Filipino who ever lived. I will vote for him even if he runs for President.

This is an additional acquisition and a yield of good return of our Bohol province.   Could be good if Mr. Pacman will open a boxing school in Bohol, isn't?  He will not remain young....so, a real Bol-anon boxer successor is a must.  No need of future adoption.  ;)

I heard he doles out good cash to media who will write about him how it happened in a newspaper here in Bohol last weekend.

Just because someone is good in sports and dedicated does not mean he will make a good leader.

Manny Pacquiao quote in a cartoon editorial from The Bohol Standard newspaper last weekend......."Bohol is nice, My kids love Bohol, you know."

If you're poor and an orphan, you have to wait in line for a good soul to adopt you. If you're rich and have lots of fans, those who want to adopt you wait in line.

In Philippines to adopt someone it must be at least no further then a 4th degree relative to the one you are adopting. So Bohol must have a bloodline out for Pac-Man or a bloodsucker hook out for his clams!! ha ha ha ha!!!

Gawas sa General Santos, ang Bohol karon ang adunay mga maayong boksidor, some of them titleholders, like Banal of Corella, Nayre of Talibon and Bautista of Tagbilaran.

well Manny is known to give away money and goods in Gensan but in Bohol, i doubt he needs to pay some media guys for a write up. on the contrary, it should be the govt there who should pay media people to follow and write about Pacman's vacation for tourism purposes. it's a free ads for bohol to host the hero of the country and his family. the mere fact that they picked bohol for their vacation is a big boon for the local tourist spots.

i think any major city or even countries would readily adopt Pacquiao especially now he is becoming famous worldwide and one of the richest in sports and many other accolades he received recently.
