Czar Amonsot struggled against Morris “Virus†Chule of Kenya but won by a close unanimous decision.
The Kenyan landed with effective jabs and right hand leads in the early rounds as Amonsot looked sluggish and was unable to put punches in bunches. Chule was able to absorb Amonsot's head shots and landed clean counter punches.
The restless crowd tried to push Amonsot to stage a rally and expressed their displeasure on a few occasions. The Kenyan started to slow going into the 8th round as Amonsot was able to land punishing body punches.
Chule looked ripe for the taking in the last two rounds but Amoncot could not finish him off.
The scorecards read: 96-94, 97-93 and 97-93.
