Aspiring solo singer Lora Love’s voice sounds pained when she sings not just because of its earthy quality or the sometimes sad lyrics of her songs, but because it comes from somewhere else: Her wallet.
Lora alleges that her album producer, composer and acting manager Larry Hermoso swindled her out of P600,000. She said that Hermoso told her the money would be used to promote her just-released eponymous album. She has filed an estafa case against Hermoso, who, she pointed out, has not been attending the hearings.
According to Lora: “Mr. Hermoso misappropriated the said money to the clear prejudice and damage of my person. I was advised by my counsel that failure to account, upon demand, for funds or property held in trust, is circumstantial evidence of misappropriation.â€
Hermoso denied the allegations, reportedly insisting that his production staff has evidence to clear his name.
“Larry said the money would be used to promote the song on radio, among other things,†she said at a recent press conference. “Well, he can steal my money but he can never steal my dream.â€
