only?  you say only?  don't forget, in the case of humans it's also an egg that perpetuates man.  and that's not only an instrument, musical or not.

Yes, I meant "only" in the full sense of the term. Since the egg came first, what deserves perpetuating is egghood, not chickenhood.

he he he, be it sperm or egg, both male and female sexes depend on one hormone that regulates all hormones of the reproductive system. this is the ACTH, the adrenocorticotrophic hormone.

manhood and womanhood bow before the power of the ACTH hormone as without it, there is neither man or woman. 8)

who dictates the zygote's formation into either the male or female sex, it is the power of god. the activity and etiology of such hormones into being remain a mystery. it just is there. perfectly ordered and prepared.
