What Is An Adenoma?

An Adenoma is a benign tumor. Characteristics of adenomas:

-most often solitary

-presents clinically as nodules

-can occur in a variety of histologic patterns

-are most often nonfunctional but can occasionally cause hyperthyroidism (as in the case of thyroid adenomas)

Manage Treatment:

Surgical treatment of adenomas may become necessary when the base of the polyp is too wide for snaring, increasing the risk of incomplete removal or perforation of the bowel wall. Suspicion of malignancy may also indicate surgery. Multiple adenomas not controlled by snare polypectomy can be treated by colectomy.

This morning, as i did my surgical rounds, i was able to assist in a surgical excision of an adenomatous growth in the patient's sublingual apparatus. Surgery was completed through orthoscopic methods, with no instance of explorative surgery. it was amazing how quick surgical excision of said neoplasm on the patient's sublingual apparatus; the attending surgeon was, in my honest opinion, a 'pro'.

surgery took less than 20 minutes.

What is ADENOMA?

In Boholano parlance it means something else... as in "Morag aden ning akong amo." ADENOMA or ADEN AMO  ;D
