The Foodservice Packaging Institute, the trade association for the North American foodservice packaging industry, announced today the promotion of Natha Dempsey as its new president. Dempsey has served as FPI’s vice president since joining the association in 2010.
During the last decade, Dempsey has led the industry’s efforts to expand recycling and composting of foodservice packaging and also has worked in the areas of communications, technical and research. For seven years, she was administrator for the Crumbine Award, which is given to local environmental health jurisdictions that demonstrate outstanding food protection services to their communities.
“Natha is well-respected in our industry. She has a vast knowledge of foodservice packaging, especially in the areas of recycling and composting, and industry trends,” said FPI Chairman John Ulowetz, senior vice president, foodservice at Berry Global. “We are very fortunate to have her step into this new role as she continues to advocate for and serve FPI members and the industry.”
Prior to joining FPI, Dempsey held various positions at SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association (now called Plastics Industry Association).
“I am incredibly excited to continue to represent FPI in this new position and advance FPI as the authority on foodservice packaging. There’s still a lot for FPI to accomplish, and I look forward to engaging our members and other stakeholders on critical issues for our industry,” said Dempsey, who will assume her new position on November 1.
