Seeing pictures of cute animals enhances performance in work requiring concentration, an experiment by a team led by a Hiroshima University professor showed Thursday.
The finding from an experiment involving about 130 college students was published in an article called "The Power of Kawaii" in the U.S. science journal Plos One in its online edition.
"Kawaii" is the Japanese word for "cute."
"Whether at home or work, we may be able to increase efficiency in what we do by
putting cute objects around us," said Hiroshi Nittono, a professor of psychophysiology and engineering psychology.
