John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

this must be a description of filipino politicians who are not averse to having their names and faces on billboards of government projects!

lol. But one has to admit, the projects initiated by Pangulo Arroyo are impressive. The new port in Ubay , the highway, the new constructions in Dauis Town and in Panglao etc. It's so popular that Gov. Chatto himself endorsed it.

they say there's only one other national leader who does this better--- hun sen of cambodia. even the remotest and smallest school building has his picture on a billboard detailing that he donated the school.  simple math would make this leader work for 600 years at his current pay just so he could afford all those projects, which he claims are his donations.

sometimes, leaders simply take their own people for fools.  (did our previous president really believe that her face and hardhat were appreciated?)  am i glad that a current senator had finally proposed a law banning names of politicians on government infrastructure project billboards.  about time.

This topic was discussed ad nauseam in a Starbucks cafe in SM Cebu...
Listening to the two sides was rather interesting.

i wonder how the pro side defended this kind of self-advertisement of politicians at public expense.  just curious.

In the pro side was an attractive female; in the contra was another attractive female.

In guise of drinking my strawberry frappuchino (w/ a shot of espresso) i was observing their conversation.

The contra was more emotional--the pro showed no emotional outbursts.

it looked like a verbal battle of attractive females then, with emotional trimmings.  did you catch any credible reasoning from the pro side as to the necessity of these weird advertisements of elected officials?

To put to pen, madam pro mentioned how it was the duty of the said politician to remind the public of the efforts of said administration, and said posters were means of communication to the general populace. Madam contra refuted by mentioning political posters as nothing but propaganda--and did so with emotional clout. Pro was unaffected by contra's emotions. I couldn't help but observe their facial features during the discussion.

may i remind you that projects accomplished by arroyo was also vital in enriching herself. The budget is overblown so as to have ample allowance for her kik-kik. This is not a secret and it is upsetting that she got the nerves to show her face on every billboards to flaunt her accomplishments, ano kaba dyan , walang delicadeza?

This is very true, Manay. Unfortunately for our country, graft and corruption, is a sad reality. The very concept of vote buying itself, which is widely accepted by the masses, is shameful.

Thanks for your point of view.
