China has revealed a prototype for a new high-speed Maglev train that is capable of reaching speeds of **620 kilometers (385 miles) per hour**. The train runs on high-temperature superconducting (HTS) coils made of ReBCO coated conductors. The train can travel at **600km/h** and boasts better adaptability to various scenarios, including high-speed or low vacuum tubes .
The HTS technology used in the train is a major breakthrough in the field of superconductivity. The HTS coils can work at only -196 ° C, using liquid nitrogen. This makes the train very energy efficient.
The train is 'self-maglev', meaning it doesn’t require extra energy to remain in suspension.
