Yes, the OMM (Osteopathic manipulative medicine) is practiced by chiropractor and by osteopathic physician, as a side.

Osteopathic medicine combines the regimen and drug therapy seen in Allopathic Medicine (M.D) and at the same time apply the homeopathic and orthotic concepts seen in chiropractics.

I really am interested in cervical spinal manipulation. That really requires dedication and precision. High velocity force.

Raquel, am glad that you find it interesting, too.
A group of us began an OMM practical this month, actually. The reason why we're interested is because we are students of an allopathic medical school (M.D)

And they don't really go into detail or teach us about OMM and other neo-classical philosophies that are taught in Osteopathic schools or chiropractics.

So what we've been doing, lol, is actually learning ourselves with the help of our anatomy instructor (who was a licensed chiropractor in India, while being a medical professor). So during exam weeks, a group of us (4-5) try new techniques on ourselves. Mostly small high velocity therapy. I personally like the scapula/shoulder massage as it' a great stress reliever.

Another thing we've tried to experiment on this last week was on podiatric massage. "Foot" massage. And do believe me when I say, "It Works". By placing the medial aspect of the metacarpo-phalangeal in clenched position and applying circular force of action on the sole of the foot.

;D

Cervical spinal manipulation is very effective wen our sternocleidomastoid and mastication muscles are tensed or are extended due to some sort of pathology/stress. Patients who have torticollis, which is the stiffness of the neck due to lesions in the associated cervical spinal nerve, the best treatment is neck massage to loosen the tensed neck muscles. Cervical spinal manip. would be perfect.

I really give credit to the chiropractors and osteopaths that know their stuff. Medicine is becoming more and more multi-faceted, bitaw.

A good demonstration of cervical spinal manipulation.

Well this is an example of massaging the muscles in the neck region; namely the sternocleidomastoid muscle and associated structures.

Trust me, this feels good.  :)

Sacrum Adjustment:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaHbk4ziOLw&feature=related

Sliding from S2-S1. Contact point is the pisiform; Segmental contact point is half way between the inf. S2 tubercle and the PSIS. Ideally more I-S tissue pull would have been taken to prevent slipping but its hard to predict when they will set this deep. If this patient was acute, this mistake may have caused some discomfort.

lol, kining massage therapy, very therapeutic. It is only now that we are finding the medical uses of therapeutic massages.

Especially the correlation between spinal nerve endings and associated muscles and organs.

Diri sa 'states it should be called 'dollar massages, hahaha.

A cervical spinal manipulation that is done by a Physician or chiropractor will cost anywhere around 200-300 US dollars.
