There are benefits to functional analysis in the field of industrial and organizational psychology. I would like to add that functional data analysis is being used to better analyze, model and predict a series of data. Some of the key features that we have to deal with include the choice of smoothing technique, data reduction, adjustment for clustering, functional linear modeling (Ullah and Finch, 2013).

There was a study conducted by Ullah and Finch (2013) that took 84 functional data analysis articles. The paper describes the FDA and its important features as applied to the time series data from various fields. Functional data analysis provides a relatively good modeling and prediction approach, with the potential for many applications in many fields ranging from public health, biomedical applications. Functional data analysis can also be used in other sectors such as marketing and business because it can definitely measure series of information collected from these sources.
