UK man gets more than 2 years in jail for making threat to US school on Facebook

July 9, 2013

Reece Elliott from South Shields in northeast England pleaded guilty in April to making malicious comments.

Judge James Goss sentenced 24-year-old Elliott to two years and four months in prison, telling him the "grossly offensive" comments were driven by "no more than self-indulgent nastiness."

Defense lawyer John Wilkinson told the judge at Newcastle Crown Court that Elliott could not explain his behavior, which the defendant called "idiotic, childish and pathetic."

ayaw kasoko maam lolla. basin ma misinterpret ko nimo. i like your picture in your logo. so young and innocent. and then we grow up. we lose our innocence. because we face the realities of life. that some people are good. and some are evil. i would like to be a good man. so that when i pass away. someone will drop a tear for me. i am an old lonely man, looking for a little love in tbnation. but so far most i got is ridicule. it hurts so much when i keep being called an idiot.

Two men arrested for making online threats

01/31/2013 03:29 | By Channel NewsAsia

SINGAPORE: Two men were arrested separately on Monday for making online threats.

In the first case, the police arrested a 40—year—old Singaporean who had allegedly threatened Reform Party’s Secretary—General Kenneth Jeyaretnam during the Punggol East by—election.

Police said he was the second man to be arrested in relation to the case. Last week, a 23—year—old man was brought in by the police.

Separately, a 29—year—old man was arrested in connection with online threats made to ex—NMP Calvin Cheng.

Mr Cheng lodged a police report on January 26.

Both cases are classified as Criminal Intimidation under the Penal Code.

Investigations are ongoing.

The pernicious combination of idiocy and insanity, especially when taking the form of delusion of grandeur manifested by a susceptible person over a protracted period, could be a real cause for concern of any civilized nation and should be more than enough moral basis for the constituted authorities to neutralize the malefactor in the most humane way possible; however, when warranted, the pompous oaf should be disposed of as a plague-bearing rat. -- Prof. Hubagum Boholum, Ph.D. in Waynahotology

'I'm going to go shoot up a school full of kids, lol': Teenager JAILED for posting 'joke' threat on Facebook after row with an online gaming partner

18-year-old made joke after argument with online video game player
Austin police say they take comments seriously after Sandy Hook

By Daily Mail Reporter
27 June 2013

A Texas teenager has been in jail since February after making an offhand comment on Facebook about a video game he had been playing.

Justin Carter was 18 when he and a friend got into an argument with someone over a multiple player online video game, leading the teenager to post a comment he now regrets.

He now faces up to eight years in prison after saying 'I'm going to go shoot up a school full of kids and eat their still beating hearts' only two months after the Sandy Hook school massacre.
