be it beyond (or beneath) our standards, yes, pet cats show their appreciation and gratitude to their humans by offering their prize catch, which may be a mouse, bird, or small snake.  i've been a recipient of all three, much to my horror.   
Republic Act 8485 (Animal Welfare Act of 1998, Philippines), as amended and strengthened by House  Bill 6893 of 2013--- violation means a maximum of P250,000 fine with a corresponding three-year jail term and a minimum of P30,000 fine and six months imprisonment

hehe, sister nako ang nakadawat ug tuko.  duol mig kalibunan, mao nga nakakita intawon tong iring layaw, who we've fed regularly (otherwise, our own cats are indoor cats, di gyod makagawas) ug snake.  safe kuno to nga snake.  luoy baya kay niginhawa pa gamay, mao nga nag-100 meter dash kog palayo. :(
