Karen Huntsman and the Huntsman family have announced that nominations for the 2020 Huntsman Education Awards are now open. Every year, the Huntsman Awards Committee encourages students, classroom parents, colleagues and supervisors to nominate the state’s most talented public teachers, administrators, volunteers or special education teachers. All public schools and districts throughout the state of Utah are invited to participate. Nominations are due Friday, March 20, 2020.
Six teachers (two each from elementary, middle and high schools), three administrators (one each from elementary, middle and high schools), one special education teacher and one volunteer are selected to receive $10,000 each in honor of their direct positive impact on the lives and education of Utah's public school children.
"We started recognizing public educators in 1993 simply to express our appreciation and gratitude for the significant impact they have on our children and in our neighborhoods,” says Karen Huntsman. Hopefully, these awards can affirm to those who really make a difference in the lives of others that they are valued and needed. Our public teachers, administrators, and volunteers are true pillars in our communities — and we are honored to celebrate their influence."

ABOUT THE HUNTSMAN EDUCATION AWARDS:
Since 1993, the Huntsman Education Awards, previously known as the Huntsman Awards for Excellence in Education, have rewarded bright and capable individuals working in Utah’s public schools. By celebrating these individuals, the awards seek to inspire current educators and to rekindle interest in the teaching profession among young people. Every year, eleven winners are selected in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Utah’s public school system and each receives a crystal obelisk and $10,000, donated by the Huntsman family.
