That's an interesting analysis, Leo.
I do agree with you in that aspect. In the United States, the general American psyche is in support of individualism and personal growth, maturity, discovery. Many American parents encourage, actually, their children to find their own identity, to think for themselves and encourage their children to attend liberal arts colleges in undergraduate institutions or in private primary and secondary schools to find their strengths. One can observe a sense of personal growth in part of the youth as mandated by their parents' rather loose hand.
The United States differs in comparison to other countries that are more based in a group mentality, or for the good of the collective good.
The United States and the American people cherish and stress the importance of individualism, self discovery and speaking one's voice.
I taught many courses in college as a Teacher's Assistant and one of the things that the professors would tell the students or what we would tell the students was to "Speak your mind."
In the 2008 Presidential Elections, the thunder of the youth's power and influence in policy was showed. The youth of today will eventually be the ruling class of tomorrow. And will take reigns of government, policy, education, health, military, security etc.
The United States' yet again shows the power and totality of Democracy.
