At the same time, Biden will have to cajole the Senate into rapidly confirming his cabinet appointees, allowing him to form a government and bring stability back to the country.

Incoming White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Friday that the Senate is fully capable of juggling the impeachment trial along with the urgent confirmations.

"The Senate can do its constitutional duty while continuing to conduct the business of the people," she said.

"Our expectation and hope and belief is that we need to walk and chew gum at the same time."

- Inauguration like no other -

Trump's extraordinary exit adds to the nervous atmosphere around an inauguration that was already set to be like no other.

In the wake of the Congress attack, thousands of National Guard troops have taken up position around central Washington. And even before the security nightmare, organizers had been forced by Covid-19 safety measures to nix the traditional big crowds and long guest lists.

For Biden, the subdued ceremonies will quickly be followed by a mammoth To Do list. His administration faces multiple crises on day one, including the stumbling national Covid vaccination project, a precarious economic recovery and Trump's looming impeachment trial in the Senate.

Trump, who was impeached for a record second time in the wake of the Congress storming, has also broken with more discreet protocol by refusing to invite Biden and his wife Jill Biden to the White House for a traditional cup of tea in the Oval Office.

On Friday, Vice President Mike Pence did make the gesture of telephoning his incoming counterpart Kamala Harris, a source said.

Although this came only five days before inauguration day -- and more than two months after the election -- The New York Times said Pence offered his congratulations and belated assistance to Harris, describing the exchange as "gracious and pleasant."

After spending more than two months trying to overturn the results of the November election, pushing false conspiracy theories about fraud, Trump's presence had not been expected at the inauguration.

The final straw came on January 6 when Trump gathered a huge crowd of supporters on the National Mall and once more claimed that they had to fight to stop a fraudulent election. A mob then stormed Congress, halting proceedings underway to certify Biden's win.

For longer than anyone can remember, outgoing presidents have stood by their replacement on the Capitol steps, watching them take the oath -- and in so doing showing visible support for the peaceful transfer of power.

By the time Joe Biden is sworn in as the 46th US president Wednesday, his scandal-tainted predecessor Donald Trump will already be far away, having helicoptered out of the White House a last time earlier that morning, an official said Friday.

Trump will be the first president in a century and a half to snub the inauguration of his successor.

An official who asked not to be identified said Trump would go to his Mar-a-Lago golf club in Florida, which is his legal residence and will become home after the White House.

He is expected to be out of town well before Biden is sworn in on the steps of the Capitol building at exactly noon.

To fulfill their goals, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner need to pull off the pivot of all pivots.

Instead of a smile-and-wave final White House chapter, the couple are busy trying to keep the President from saying too little or too much, throwing themselves on a grenade they aren't certain will detonate but not able to take the chance either way.

(CNN) When Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner shared their decision to pick up and move their family to Washington from New York four years ago, multiple sources who know the couple said the idea was the White House years would allow easy entree to their ambitious next steps: Kushner would become a powerful player in global politics and Trump would become a shoo-in to a higher office of her own.


The couple have never been shy about their combined love of power. When they got engaged, Ivanka Trump said in an interview that she knew Kushner was the one when she found his ambition matched hers.

"Jared and I are very similar in that we're very ambitious. That's what makes it so amazing to be in a relationship with someone who is supportive of that," Trump told New York Magazine in 2009.

Seven members of Budol-Budol Gang arrested

Complainants against the notorious gang Budol-Budol showed up one after another at the Valenzuela City Police Station after the police have reported the arrest of seven members of the said gang, April 3, 2018.
At around 2:30 in the afternoon of April 2,2018 along G. Lazaro Street, Dalandanan, Valenzuela City, victim Carmen Balucatin, 68, resident of Barangay Dalandanan, was approached by suspect Gina Dela Cruz, asking for directions going to Honda Service Center. Another suspect Felix Serranothen interfered in their conversation. The two said suspects convinced Balucatin to board on their silver Toyota Revo with plate number WTP 185.
While inside the said vehicle, other suspects (identified below) tried to convince the victim to show them her bank passbook in exchange of Php5,000.00. They also asked the victim if she owns any jewelry. According to the victim, she sensed that she was being duped so she tried to unboard from the car.
Suspect Felix Serrano took thePhp3,000.00 from the victim’s wallet, but as the victim tried to resist, Serrano uttered, “Wag ka nang lumaban. Pag hindi mo binigay pera mo, papatayin ka namin”. The victim was forced to give her money.
When the victim has alighted from the car, she sought help from the team of operatives led by PSI Jose R Hizon happened to be at the same area and rescued the victim. Abrief chase ensued until suspects were flagged down and arrested. Recovered from the vehicle were five (5) bundles of fake money and the victim’s cash amounting to Php3,000.00.
During the conduct of investigation, complainants of different budol-budol  incidents happened and reported in Valenzuela City surfaced and positively identified the suspects as the ones that have victimized them.
Furthermore, the above described vehicle which has been recovered from the suspects has been the police subject of an alarm. Through further investigation, the said vehicle was seen in the CCTV footages used by the said notorious group in their series of Budol-Budol modus operandi in the area of Valenzuela City.
During the presentation of the suspects to the media, four other female victims from the said city came up and positively identified the suspects as the same persons that have also victimized them. One 56 year old-victim from Barangay Parada said that the gang has taken Php225,000 from her on February 15, 2018. Other three victims, 59, from Barangay Coloong, 68, from Barangay Karuhatan;and 73, from Barangay Arkong Bato, said they were victimized by the group with Php21,000 worth of jewelries and cash; Php105,000.00 cash and jewelries; and Php45,000.00 cash and jewelries respectively.
“Sa pagkakahuli sa grupong ito, mabibigyan na ng hustisya na ang mga nabiktima. Sana ay magsilbing aral ito sa lahat na mag-ingat at huwag magtitiwala sa mga hindi kilala. Maging alisto po tayo”, PSSUPT Ronaldo r Mendoza, VCPS Chief of Police said during the presentation of suspects.
Cases of Robbery with Threat and Intimidation; Four (4) Counts Estafa (Swindling);  and Syndicated Estafa will be filed against the suspects before the Valenzuela City Prosecutors Office.
Local police said that efforts are now being made to contact other victims of Budol-Budol incidents in the said city.
Arrested suspects were identified as follows:
• Rosalie Ramirez y Alfonso, female, 49, single, resident of no. 280 Kalinisan St., Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City;
• Andy dela Cuesta y Lanorias, male, with livein partner, 34, residing at Phase 2, Block 50, Lot 7, Park Lane Subdivision, Barangay Santiago, General Trias, Cavite City;
• Felix Serrano y Lumayag, male, married, 43, resident of Blk. 3, Lot 16, Barangay San Dionisio, Area 1, Dasmarinas Cavite;
• Rogelio Barcelo y Cortiz, male, with live-in partner, 49, residing at Balungbato, Gen. Luis St., Novaliches, Quezon City;
• Rizalyn Hernandez y Mendoza, female, 42, resident of no. 162 Barangay Tambo, Paranaque City;
• Gina dela Cruz y Kadao, female, 60, residing Barangay Tambo, Paranaque City; and
• Ireneo Lapuz Jr. Y Pacilan, 52, married, resident of Balimbing Drive, Imus Cavite.
