My cousin is dying to come here.  She already passed her exams including English proficiency, NCLEX, and all, but the opportunity is still not there.  I wish she can find a job here in California so we are just gonna be closer.  Eventually pohon, my youngest sister can join her too.

grabeh bitaw oi gipakita man tong blue print sa white house unya ang proximity sa medical terms.  Grabeh jud diay diha nko na realize how important their jobs are sa mga presidents.  The health of the president can break a nation judging from previous presidents who got ill or assasinated.  Of couse, there were also medical cover up.  And there was a question thrown if President Regan already had Alzheimer while he was still the president and one doctor said he already had early symptoms.

Amazing jud that we have well respected Filipino doctors and nurses here in America.  Just last week, I was watching a documentary of CNN about health and medical needs of US presidents.  Naturally, the White House doctors were interviewed.  I didn't realize until then that everywhere the president go or even just inside his office, a team of medical professionals is just a few steps away.  One of the doctors interviewed was a lady, Connie Mariano.  I could tell she was a Filipino but just to make sure, I googled her name.  Indeed, she is a Fil-Am!  She was the Director of the White House Medical Unit attending to the health of then President Bill Clinton.  I was so amazed and proud of her achievements!

I have a short story to tell and this is true.  Back when I was still in a working student back in college in Davao City, I used to do marketing every Saturday in the big market called Bangkerohan.  I always get up early so I can have the freshest vegetables and fruits and meat.  One time, I passed by the Mercury Drugs Pharmacy to get some medicines for my aunt and in one corner there was a frail-looking older man, I presumed the father and the son in the side.  The father was smoking cigarette while the boy was just lying down sleeping with a very dirty t-shirt.  I was so moved by the site of the kid who, even with the shirts on, I can see a big belly even if he was so frail.  The first picture that slackware shared reminded me of that kid.  So anyway, I did my business at the pharmacy and took a mental note that I was going to buy bread at the bakeshop to give to them.  It took me a few minutes to be served at the pharmacy and when I looked back where I saw the old man and the little boy, they were not there anymore.  As I was about to enter the market, there I saw the old man and the kid.  The kid was stripped of his dirty shirt exposing thin body with ribs and a huge belly!  And closeby where the kid was lying, a bowl with a few coins in there and the older man looking so pitiful and leading people to look at the little boy.  I was so mad.  Mad with the old man for using the kid to solicit sympathy so people would drop a few coins while the day is without clothes.  The boy, I surmised, must not be feed well so as not to look nourished. I saw then the lowest of low of how adult people can take advantage of kids in the street.

BOC, your cakes are really very inviting  for a bit-slice. WOW! kalami gjod.  Markus, my husband's hobby is also baking cakes but not as good looking as yours but everybody loves to taste and eat it.

You might be having a lot of patience to bake some, I used to baked if guests are coming but I lost nerves after then washing/cleaning the neccessary utensils.

BOC, it doesn't matter if Marcus' cakes do not look as good as my cakes because whenever a man bakes a cake, that's already a WOW factor!  I really have so much respect for men who bake cakes.

As for me, I made that French pastry from the book I got from the thrift store.  I got interested in one recipe and I just have to try it. I had the opportunity to take a lil dessert at the party so I tried making it and it looked exactly the way how I saw it when I was reading the recipe.  You are right, BOC.  I missed home each time I bake cakes because when I used to do that at home, there's always somebody to follow and clean the utensils but here, I am on my own!

"Digital rape is is the act of using fingers to violate and force a sexual and violent act upon an unwilling victim", say the urban dictionary. I understand, this does not just mean fingers but can also be sticks, bottles, etc.  How cruel!  And why is this called digital, that's beyond me.

You know, back then, I got involved in a tripartite project with Phil government represented by a government-owned bank, our private bank and the German GTZ.  We set up a bank in the municipalities of Alcoy, Boljoon and Oslob in South Cebu where there's concentration of the German GTZ.  I remember how good we were in talking about inculcating the value of savings in various cooperatives with members mostly farmers.  Same thing among gi ingon.  Savings should be a part of the budget and not just save whatever left after spending for food, tuba, clothings, etc.  And later it dawned on me that my action was not according to my words.  hahahah  Wa jud savings kay di jud ka igo and if ever naay ma save ginagmay, magamit gihapon for hospitalization or tabang sa pamilya.  Anyhow, I was just proud that the farmers there  really had savings which we were able to set up a quasi-bank for them we called People's Development Fund.

I think the government would just like to see if they are following the rule of law.  For example, they may be marrying their own children and yet both the old and young didn't know that's not right according to the rule of law busa manghilabot jud ang government kay nahisakop man sila.  = I wish they are just gonna be safe and not be violated with their own individuality but then again naa man tay balaud.  If they are found to be doing just as decent as they should be, then they should be left on their own.

Okay. So I was looking and shopping around for books for medical school today. One book that I was looking at was Goljan books, for Medical Gross Anatomy and Physiology. One book, which is only 100 pages thick, was priced at $600.00. This is only a support book, may I add. The other books that I was looking at was Medical Legal Ethics, priced at another $350.00 (200 pages) and Medical Histology priced at $550.00 with support key books which was priced at $200.00 each--note that each of the key books are only 40 pages thick.

I cannot help but be vexed by the fact that the United States complains how it is limited by the lack of physicians/surgeons in the country. But its ridiculous in how much these books cost. These books and kits alone will cost me more than $2,500.00 in one semester term.

My reaction jud is this, "Grabii!"

Not only do they expect us to bend over backwards to pay such massive tuitions (as in $300,000 in 4 years time). But also for killer book prices? C'mon! AMSA (American Medicine and Surgery Association) do something! Help us poor medical students and make these book companies reduce their prices. At least help with that!!

Dong, I guess they are expensive because you don't have much choice but to buy them.  Yes, AMSA should help you guys.

Thank you kaayo, Tita Birdie, Amy and Beth for your kind words.  Here's a peek of what's inside the pastry. :)

Beth, I was happy how the mother reacted when she saw the cake.  She said she was so excited for her daughter to see it and her family too.  She has relatives coming from out of state man yata pod to attend the graduation of her special daughter.

We are going to a party tonight and I am just waiting for Hapon/ytesski to pick me up.  Here's what we are taking to the party.  I made this - a French Pastry called Beurre Noisette with Stawberry.

Today is the start of the Nursing Board examination.  Our dearest youngest sister, the 13th in the family thus named by Daddy as Mari Teresee, is one of the examinees.  May I ask all of you to whisper a prayer or two for her successful examination.  Thank you all!

It's the machine, Maring. Kanang bar code ilang gabasahon pero naa pa gihapon dire na via tunol sa bank ang checks but most of the time, after ma scan, ila naman iuli ang check.

This is interesting!  I thought macapuno is just from ice cream, fruit salad, halo2x and pastries.  I hope this plan pushes through soon.

So the checks referred here are government checks, right?  Meaning i endorse pa sa store?  Or, if we are referring to personal checks, I don't think stores in the Phils., much more in Bohol accept that.  First, to check the signatories, the check must be personally presented to the bank where the account was opened.  Unlike here in America where checks are accepted anywhere.  Seldom ra man pod naay mag bounce na check dire.

As I was reading the first post, what struck me was that the alleged suspect wanted to have a valid driver's license.  Too bad he wanted it thru thru invalid ways.  It also says that he is a good person.  He must be but he realized the hard way that some Pinoy short-cut and corrupt ways are not tolerated in most places in the word.

Bem, tama si BOC Bambi ug Maring Bella, just ignore that kind of emails kay the moment you respond to it, that's already a hint that somebody's reading their crazy emails.  Di na lang sila mangubkob ug diamond sa ilang backyard basin pa naa sila'y ma ani na tinarong kaysa mang ilad sila sa mga gullible and well, sorry to say, greedy people.  The promise of bigger money interests people busa na ilad na hinuon sila.
