Here are some images from the Kabilin sa Banay II Exhibit, which featured the works and artistry of the descendants of Ramon Borja, foremost of whom is Ma'am Nene Lungay. :)

a self-portrait (of a young Ma'am Nene)
Correction: This is not really a self-portrait. Noel "Gene" Borja Lungay, the son, did the painting of his mom (according to Gene himself)  ;)

Dear Diary,

Dec 14:

Finally arrived in America for the first time.  News about the possibility of a White Christmas!

Dec 15:

Wife and I  sat by the window all day watching the snowflakes gently drifting down, covering the trees and the ground. Like the Christmas card my sister sent me.  Oh, how beautiful!!!

(Nicer than the ash fall of Mt. Pinatubo!)

Dec 16:

Awoke to a lovely blanket of crystal white snow covering the landscape. What a fantastic sight! I really enjoyed shoveling my sister's driveway. It was really FUN!!!  A snowplow accidentally covered up the driveway. He waved.  He reminded me of Santa Claus.  I waved back to this nice citizen and shoveled again... no problem.

Dec 17:

Wow! 5 more inches of snow! The temperature dropped down to 5 degrees. The snowplow covered the driveway again with a compacted snow. I guess I'll have to shovel again.  It's quite fun though.  But it is really cold out!!! BRRRRRRR.... ......

Dec 18:

The temp went up a little and the snow on the street turned into a slush mixed with dirt and became brownish-gray.  Then at  night, the temp went down again and became icy.  A tree limb snapped and fell on my sister's new car. WOW, HASTLE!!!  More snow and ice predicted. Sho-shovel nanaman ako?!!!  Ah leche, suma-sakit na ang likod ko !!!  Whew... I miss my houseboy so much!!!

Dec 19:

Wow ang Lamig!!!! The snow plow came by 2X today.  First he covered the streets with "sand", then came back and pushed the snow and ice mixed with the dirty sand on the driveway again. s***, ako NANAMAN  ang mag sho-shovel noon eh!!!!!!!!  Ang hirap pala kung araw-araw mong ginagawa!!!

Dec 20:

Power went off due to the weather and cold. Sinisipon na kaming lahat dito. Used kerosene heater which tipped over.

Dec 21:

More snow predicted. Wind chill -7 degrees!!! All the plumbing pipes are frozen. Naku, walang pang katulong!

Ano?!!  Ayoko na!!! Inyo na!! KAYO NALANG DITO. UUWI  NA 'KO SA PILIPINAS! Lecheng bansa ito!!!

;D ;D ;D

Go to the shipping line directly (one that has Bohol route) and tell the staff there you have a big package to ship to Bohol and they will show you how to go about it, give you a schedule and price. They do the same thing for your stuff. Lots of paper works.  ;)

Just to let you know I've tried it before... with belongings (I forgot the shipping terminology), but many a-times with car (this one is easier, I think)

Mao nay giingon... kung nakasala, pasayloon... kung wala makasala, atong daygon. Hmmmm... tug-an sa tinuod!!!  ;)

In any case, I salute those who survived and those who did not... the celibate life.

On the other hand, the Eastern Catholic Church (Roman or Western Catholic Church does not) allow their priests to marry... so wala diay sila kasala kay pwede man sa ilang balaod? "Tsk tsk tsk," matud pa ni San Pedro. Kalooy ba sa mga Roman Catholics, hehehe.  ;D

Tagnaa unsang tuiga o century nagsugod ang law on "priestly celibacy?" Does that mean, didto na nagsugod pagpakasala sa mga pari nga masupilon? Hehehehe  :P

true, though there's no harm in matching both the internal and external.  besides, if one bothers to dress carefully for non-sectarian formal functions (i.e., white-tie for men, gown for women, all the works), so should one dress just as carefully for a church affair.  fr chic!  tell me you won't allow a woman in a bikini to attend your mass! (;D)

Hmmmm. Well, having a thyroid problem like I do, with exteme mood-change (at any given time), I might.... bwahahaha!!!  ;D

If you can afford it why not. Most women have  a fantasy wedding. To wear a beautiful white gown, with your father giving you away,a mass led and blessed by your favorite priest,a feast and celebration that last till dawn!.Oh well...mine was a simple "I do" and nothing out of the ordinary, shared the celebration with the people in the barrio. It was not that expensive.Butcher a couple of hogs and a lot of "Tuba",everyone is happy!

Bitaw no... basta god malipayon tanan ayos!!! After the honeymoon... then the challenge begins, hahahaha!!!  ;)

Hmm... Expensiveness is a relative thing--relative, that is, to the size of one's fortune and one's ego, among other vanities.

Morag mao jud siguro ni maayong measure (taksanan). Way magbuot (no bloody protest)... bulsa ug ego maoy pabut-on (o maghari), bwahahaha!!!  ;D ;D

Addendum: wa poy suyaay (translated as jealousy, not envy)... kay to each his/her own man ahihihi  ;D

In the end the motto or slogan (should be): magbuot diay mo?!! Kamo kunoy kaslon kung lalim ba? Bwahahaha!!!  ;D

For some reason the Church does talk about ego trip vs. production-style weddings. Probably to avoid judging the person(s) than the action or the decision to do a big "to-be-seen-by-others" wedding. LoL  ;D

Ow? Manang tinuod ka? I wonder what part of the code where it says that. Or, I wonder what the Blessed Mother has to say on this, too, hehehehe. Kung makadungog kog passage ni San Pablo where it says, "clothe yourself in Christ" I hear something re: internal and attitudinal instead of external. Just my thought on this.

no, but the egos of the couple and their families could be, which can be prohibitively expensive.

my own wedding is still a conversation piece for my nieces.  unbelievably cheap, they say.  naturally.  my own dress cost only 95 pesos. (lol!)  it was an off-the-rack thing that no one wanted because it was so small.  but it fitted me to a t because i was only 87 pounds then.

not that my ego is zilch; it's just that i've always hated being a star in my own production, especially one that i can direct.  in other words, i never liked the idea of walking down the aisle, oogled at by strangers.  i took only three steps, from the first pew of the small chapel to the altar.  there was no one except immediate family members and two close friends.  reception cost:  2,500 pesos.  the only fly in the ointment was the groom's choice of drinks, a bottle each of hennessy and dom perignon.  but that's another story.  besides, that was his money.

i don't think i'm less married now just because my wedding wasn't anyone's dream wedding but my own.

Reminds me of my vestment for ordination at P300+, the cheapest I could get. Wow, it's been 26 years now and still kicking dusts along the journey. The only thing that cost was food as the whole townsfolks were expected to partake being the town's "first priest-to-be-ordained," but scheduling it day before the town fiesta was even smarter (not because we were being cheap but because we were poor (LoL)  ;D

Absolutely colorful! Oh how wonderful, I wish I could visit this place as well.

I've had Austrian food, but have never visited Austria itself. Pohon. Perhaps we can go together, Fr?

Whenever you're not busy being a doctor maybe we can do together hehehehe. I missed Salzburg more than Vienna.... honestly.  ;)

Words by J. Roel Lungay

Music by Romeo Mascariñas

Performed by Romeo Mascarinas

1
Took an early train
From Salzburg to Vienna
Mood was very quiet
The sun a little bite
Looking out the window
'Twas quite a lonely ride.

2
In a flash of light
An angel passes by
My heart was set ablaze
By that gorgeous face
Though I can hardly breathe
I wanna touch her face.

CHORUS:
So this is the tune
Of the grooving Vienna
I feel so in love
Oh, City of Vienna
Sing me your songs
At the winding Danube
Is this just a dream...
Don't wake me up Vienna.

3
This is quiet a dream
I really wanna scream
What is happening
The magic on this train
And everywhere I go
I sense a smell of you.

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge:
The majestic Glorietta,
Schonbrunn's little moon,
The waltzing Danube
And the beer drinking nook...
All dancing with the beat
When Vienna and I meet.

(Repeat Chorus, fade)
