Mga higala, mao kini ang dagway sa akong sulat ug ako magpasalamat kang Inday Ayessa ug Glacier kay nitabang sila ug edit. I want to hear your feedbacks and if you wish you could copy and print this and put in their suggestion boxes or for a  laugh you could give one to Bohol Quality  ;D

Dear Sir,

I would like to express my feelings of disappointment  as a Bol-anon residing outside the country  to the ICM establishments
I was informed  that the last  Raffle draw of the Island City Mall was not in accordance to the date as stated in the raffle ticket. It was held 4 January, 2009 instead of 6 January 2009.
The whole event might be trivial to you, or it might not be even important to you, but to some poor Bol-anons winning means something to hold on as  a ray of hope for  this bitter times of  hardships.
I could have just  enjoy my favorite meal, sit comfortably in my flat  and forget the whole thing but I sympathised with my fellow Bol-anon who don´t get the nerve or chance to bring their voice of disgust.
I deem it proper that the ICM establishments  give a written apology to their  loyal customers.

very truly yours,

Tessie  Bertumen Wilms

Question and Answer / How Manny Pacquiao means to us?
January 25, 2009, 06:05:51 PM
Manny Pacquiao, who is also in all of us.

Well he is  very religious and prays before and after the fight.  In between, he plays the game fair, and not with bad plays and tactics and exploits his power punch with gracious and well planned footwork and bingo! the enemy is dazzled and done.
Thats what we should do.  And Pacquiao trains very hard and dreams sky is the limit.
We will be like him  and we shall be born again, even in material and spiritual blessings.

Love Talk / Re: What we look for in a woman?
January 25, 2009, 05:50:12 PM
I´m sharing you an email this morning which fits to this thread;

I'd like to tell you a story...

It's a story that you might find strangely familiar. Don't be alarmed.

Once upon a time, there was a man who was very attracted to a particular woman.

At first, she was just another attractive woman... but the more he got to know her, the more he began to feel attracted to her... and the more time he spent with her, the more that attraction grew into a deep emotional attachment and affection for her.

   But, there was one problem.

As his emotional attachment grew stronger and stronger, he also grew more and more insecure.

   Why?

Because he couldn't tell whether or not she felt the same way towards him.

Sometimes, she would say things like, "You are so important to me" and "I'm glad that you're in my life"... but nothing ever progressed past the "friendship" stage.

There was an occasional hug, an occasional kiss on the cheek from her... and once, she even held his hand for a long time while he talked about an emotional issue.

But, something was wrong with the picture.

She just wasn't acting like a woman that was "falling in love". She was acting like a friend.

The insecurity that he felt became a spiral that amplified itself... and the more insecure he became, the more afraid he grew of "screwing things up" by kissing her or asking her to be his girlfriend.

Plus, the more insecure he became, the less time she seemed to want to spend with him.

After spending many days and nights obsessing over this girl, the man finally arrived at the conclusion that, if she only knew how HE FELT, she would feel the same way.

So, he made a bold move.

He TOLD HER how he felt.

He confessed that he was in love and that he would do anything to be with her.

She looked at him with compassion in her eyes and said, "Thank you... I really mean that... but I don't want to mess up our friendship... you're too important to me...."

This only confused the man more.

He didn't know how to take it...

Did it mean that she really loved him too, but that she was afraid of something?

Did it mean that she wasn't ready for a long term relationship?

Did it mean that she didn't love him, but that she was trying to give him a hint?

Did it mean that he hadn't tried hard enough?

Did it mean that he needed to put everything on the line and REALLY let her know how he felt?

He finally decided that he couldn't go on like this anymore... he had to be with her.

He had to make sure that she knew just how much he wanted to be with her... so, he took a big step
- He bought her a symbolic gift and wrote her a long, long letter... again confessing his feelings.

   And then, the unthinkable happened.

   She didn't reply.

He called her three times a day for almost a week before reaching her.

She made an excuse about being very busy and said, "I'll try to give you a call soon, I have to go"... and hung up...

but... he never got a call back.

Over the following months the man tried desperately to understand what went wrong... and what happened.

   THE END

   OK, I'm back.

Now, wasn't that a sweet story?

   Heartwarming, huh?

I know, I should keep my day job, and not take up writing romance novels...

Now, let's talk about that story.

That story is basically a MYTH.

And I'm not talking about FICTION here.

I'm talking about a story that rings true for a great majority of men. A story that is timeless. A story that resonates at a deep level because you can IDENTIFY with it.

And why does this particular story resonate for most men?

Because we've all been there in one way or another... at one time or another... and many of us have been there OFTEN in our lives.

Another thing that gives this particular story a lot of power is the powerful negative emotions that it stirs... as a result of the powerful negative experiences that it reminds us of...

Stories and situations like this one really FASCINATE me.

They fascinate me because I see them as an opportunity to UNDERSTAND and SOLVE the puzzles that they represent.

In this particular situation I think there is a solution.

And it lies in understanding a secret that women know, but MEN DON'T.

And that secret comes down to the reality that if a woman isn't ATTRACTED to a man, all of his attempts to confess his love, convince her to like him, and court her BACKFIRE.

In other words, they not only DON'T WORK, they actually make things WORSE.

The very things that a man does to try to make a woman LIKE HIM, make her NOT like him.

   They make her run.

All those great intentions and emotional dedication actually cause the man feeling them to do things that make her go away.

   It sucks.

And I hope that by explaining the process of how this happens, I'll help you to avoid this painful situation in the future...

By the way, if you read that story and said to yourself, "That's happened to ME!", then you might want to go and check THIS out. It will help Big Time:
ha ha ha ha ha!

Strange burns'

Hundreds were killed in the 22-day Israeli offensive, but it is the manner in which Sabah's relatives lost their lives, and the weapon used, that has attracted attention.

Sabah's family say Israeli troops wrote an apology in Arabic on their wall

Sabah herself has suffered terrible burns on her arms, legs and torso and is considerable pain.

"There was fire, and so much white smoke," she says. "The missile melted my children. My daughter-in-law melted in front of my eyes."

Dr Nafiz Abu Shabaan, the head of the unit in which Sabah is being treated, says he has seen many victims with what he described as "strange burns".

"These burns were very severe, very deep, and became deeper and wider over time," he says. "In some cases, smoke came out of the wound, even after hours."

The cause of these types of injuries is believed, by visiting medical officials, to be Israel's use of shells containing white phosphorus.

Incendiary weapon

In another part of the city, at a former security compound flattened by the Israeli bombardment, Marc Garlasco, senior military analyst at Human Rights Watch, points out evidence that white phosphorus had been used.

DENDERMONDE, Belgium (CNN) -- Authorities have charged a 20-year-old man with murder and attempted murder in a stabbing rampage at a Belgian nursery school that left two children and a staff member dead and a dozen others wounded.
A family pays tribute Friday evening outside the nursery school in Dendermonde, Belgium.

A family pays tribute Friday evening outside the nursery school in Dendermonde, Belgium.

The regional prosecutor's office identified the man, who has been in custody since Friday, as Kim D., and would not release his last name. They said he lives alone in Sinaai, a city about 20 kilometers (12 miles) outside of Dendermonde.

He has no police record and is unemployed, the office said.

Authorities allege the man, whose face was painted white with black rings around his eyes, entered the Fabeltjesland (Fable Land) nursery school midmorning Friday and began stabbing those inside.

He entered the building through a side door, typically only used by parents who are late in arriving to pick up their children from the school, authorities said. Once inside, he went through several rooms in the center.

The dead included the head of the nursery, a woman in her 60s who was well known in the town, residents said. The other victims were young; the nursery cared for children up to the age of three.
Authorities caught up with him about an hour-and-a-half later after the attack ended, the ministry said. At the time of his arrest, he had on him a knife, an ax and a fake pistol. He was wearing a bullet-proof vest, authorities said.

Two other knives were found at the nursery school, but it has not been confirmed whether they were used in the attack.

We should be careful because even Medjugorje is not 100% approved by the Vatican.

Medjugorje 25 years later: Apparitions and contested authenticity

By John Thavis
Catholic News Service

ROME (CNS) -- Twenty-five years after six children in Medjugorje, a village in what is now Bosnia-Herzegovina, began reporting apparitions of Mary, pilgrims are still flocking to the site and church officials are still cautious about the authenticity of the events.

Marian experts continue to debate the significance of Medjugorje, and several have published books -- ranging from enthusiastically supportive to skeptical -- to coincide with the anniversary.

In Medjugorje, Franciscan pastors are preparing for overflow crowds on June 24-25, the dates on which the alleged apparitions and messages began in 1981. They insist, however, that no special commemorations are planned.

"Everything's been booked solid for more than a year, and we're expecting thousands of pilgrims. But we're not putting on any spectacle or festival -- just the usual program of prayer," Franciscan Father Ivan Sesar, pastor of St. James Parish in Medjugorje, said in a telephone interview.

Of the six children who originally reported visions from Mary, sometimes daily, one says she still receives messages from Mary on the 25th of each month. They are published online, eagerly awaited by a large network of Christians dedicated to Medjugorje.

According to Bishop Ratko Peric of Mostar-Duvno, whose diocese includes Medjugorje, the messages now number more than 30,000, a fact that only increases his own skepticism about the authenticity of the apparitions.

Bishop Peric discussed Medjugorje with Pope Benedict XVI earlier this year during a visit to the Vatican. In a summary of the discussion published in his diocesan newspaper, Bishop Peric said he had reviewed the history of the apparitions with the pope, who already was aware of the main facts from his time as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

"The Holy Father told me: We at the congregation always asked ourselves how can any believer accept as authentic apparitions that occur every day and for so many years?" Bishop Peric said.

Bishop Peric noted that Yugoslavian bishops in 1991 issued a statement that "it cannot be confirmed that supernatural apparitions or revelations are occurring" at Medjugorje.

Bishop Peric said he told the pope that his own opinion was even stronger -- not only that a supernatural element cannot be proven, but that "it is certain that these events do not concern supernatural apparitions."

Tom Jones

Sir Thomas John Woodward OBE (born 7 June 1940), known by his stage name Tom Jones, is a Welsh singer-songwriter, particularly noted for his powerful voice and wide vocal range. He was born in Trefforest, Pontypridd, near Cardiff in Wales. Since 1965 Jones has sold over 100 million records.

His early hits include:

    * "It's Not Unusual" (1965), Jones's signature song.
    * "What's New Pussycat?", written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for What's New, Pussycat?, released in 1965.
    * "Thunderball", the theme for the James Bond film of the same name (1965)—an urban legend states that upon hitting the final high note of the song Jones actually passed out, but that the take was so good it was the version that was released. Jones later denied this.
    * "Green Green Grass of Home" (1966), his most successful single, which was interpreted by many to refer to Jones's native Wales (correctly, according to Jones),[5] despite having been originally written (by Curly Putman) about the USA.[6]
    * "(It Looks Like) I'll Never Fall In Love Again" (1969)
    * "Delilah" (1968).
    * "Help Yourself" (1968), used recently[when?] in an ad campaign for Diet Dr Pepper.
    * "Without Love" (1969).
    * "She's A Lady" (1971), his highest charting U.S. single, peaking at #2. Written by Paul Anka. It is the song played over the closing credits of the movie Bound. (Wikipedia)

His Reload album, released in 2000, became the biggest hit of his career. An album of cover versions recorded as duets with contemporary artists, using their record producers, and utilising their recording methods, it reached number one in the United Kingdom, and sold over 4 million copies worldwide.[1] In 2002, he released the album Mr. Jones, which was produced by Wyclef Jean and included the singles "Tom Jones International" and "Black Betty." In 2003, he was honored with a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. In 2004, his "Sex Bomb" single became a major club hit.

Miss World Finalist Brazil's Mariana Bridi Da Costa Loses Limbs | Miss World Finalist or Brazil's Mariana Bridi da Costa loses limbs(Hands And Feet).
A 20 Year Old model who was a finalist to represent Brazil in the Miss World contest has had her hands and feet amputated after contracting a severe urinary infection.Mariana Bridi da Costa was sedated in a hospital in Serra, in the southeastern state of Espirito Santo, and on artificial respiration following the procedures, according to several newspapers.

Surgeons had to act to remove her damaged hands and feet. Her father, Agnaldo da Costa, told the concern is over her life.Bridi twice made it into the national finals for the Miss World contest, and last year travelled to China to participate in the Miss Bikini International pageant.

AC-DC

AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Although the band are commonly classified as hard rock, and considered pioneers of heavy metal, they have always classified their music as "rock and roll".

AC/DC underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, High Voltage, in 1975. Membership remained stable until bassist Mark Evans was replaced by Cliff Williams in 1977. In 1979, the band recorded their highly successful album Highway to Hell. Lead singer and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The group briefly considered disbanding, but soon ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was selected as Scott's replacement. Later that year, the band released their best-selling album, Back in Black.

AC/DC has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, including 71 million albums in the United States.[6] Back in Black has sold an estimated 42 million units worldwide[7] and 22 million in the United States alone, where it is the fifth highest-selling album.[8] AC/DC ranked fourth on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock"[9] and the seventh "Greatest Heavy Metal Band Of All Time" by MTV.[10] In 2004, the band was ranked number 72 in the Rolling Stone list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. The Karen (Burmese: : kayin lu myo:), self-titled Pwa Ka Nyaw Po or Kayan, and also known in Thailand as the Kariang (Thai: ) or Yang, are an ethnic group in Burma and Thailand. The Karen make up approximately 7 percent of the total Burmese population of 47 million people.Wikipedia

The Karen have fought for independence from Burma since 31 January 1949. Consequently, 31 January is recognized amongst the Karen as Karen Revolution Day . In 1938 the British colonial adminstration recognised Karen New Year as a public holiday.

Cinnamon

Recent studies have determined that consuming as little as one-half teaspoon of Cinnamon each day may reduce blood sugar, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels by as much as 20% in Type II diabetes patients who are not taking insulin it is mildly carminative and used to treat nausea and flatulence. It is also used alone or in combination to treat diarrhea. Chinese herbalists tell of older people, in their 70s and 80s, developing a cough accompanied by frequent spitting of whitish phlegm. A helpful remedy, they suggest, is chewing and swallowing a very small pinch of powdered cinnamon. This remedy can also help people with cold feet and hands, especially at night.

Mix 1/2 cup of honey with 1 cup of cold water and a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Mix thoroughly and apply to your entire body after your shower.

5. Relieve sore throat pain

Mix honey with a little lemon juice and take several teaspoons a day when you have a sore throat. This has wonderful soothing properties for a sore throat.

6. Stop a cough

The same mixture of honey and lemon juice used for sore throat pain can help relieve the symptoms of a cough.

7. Condition dry, frizzy hair

Mix honey with olive oil and apply to the end of your hair to combat dryness and reduce friziness. Leave in your hair for 20 minute with a hot towel wrapped around it. Rinse and shampoo as normal.

8. Use it as a sugar replacement when cooking or baking.

Substitute honey for up to 1/2 of the granulated sugar called for in a recipe. Reduce the amount of liquid in the recipe by 1/4 cup for each cup of honey used, and lower the oven temperature by 25 degrees to prevent overcooking. Honey makes a tasty substitute for sugar in your favorite teas and coffees, plus it adds an extra dimension of flavor.

A bruise occurs when the tissue underlying the skin
become injured. The skin is not broken, but the de-
licate capillaries ( small blood vessels) below the
skin surface rupture, and  blood drains out into the
surrounding area. The blood seeps into the layers
of the skin, resulting in pain, swelling, and "black-
and- blue- marks"- discoloration that starts out red,
then turns dark and bluish, and finally may become
a yellowish color as the blood under the skin is ab-
sorbed. Body parts often become bruised after
banging into hard objects; this is normal.
To minimize bruising, as soon as possible after an
injury, place an ice pack on the bruised area and
keep it in place for 20 to 30 minutes. This stops
the bleeding by constricting the blood vessels. If
the bruise is severe, you may wish to treat the in-
jured area with an ice pack every 2 to 3 waking
hours for 24 to 48 hours, and then switch to 15
minutes of heat, three times daily. The injured
area should also be elevated above heart level, if
possible, to allow blood to flow away from the in-
jured area to minimize the bruise.
To reduce discoloration and soreness, try applying
shredded raw potato directly to the injury for about
an hour.
To reduce the pain, swelling and discoloration of
a black eye, immediately apply cold compress and
an ice pack to the injury. Unfortunately, if the disco-
loration has set in before the ice bag has been applied,
Eat an abundance of dark green leafy vegetables and
fresh fruits. These foods is rich in vitamin C and bio-
flavonoids, which help to prevent bruising. Dark leafy
greens such as broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage,
kale and spinach are also good source of vitamin K,
which is necessary for blood clotting and healing.
Eat plenty pf products high in zinc, such as chicken,
eggs, soybeans, and wheat germ. Zinc is important
in strengthening blood vessel walls and aids in blood
clotting.
Try taking vitamin C with bioflavonoids, if you find you
are bruising very easily, as a deficiency in these often
causes easy or  unexplained bruising.

January 18, 2009--An oddity among oddities, this newly discovered carnivorous sea squirt traps fish and other prey in its funnel-like front section, scientists announced today. Most of the 2,000 or so known sea squirt species are filter feeders that strain plankton from seawater.

Tethered to the seafloor 13,143 feet (4,006 meters) underwater, the 20-inch (50-centimeter) sea squirt, or ascidian, is one of the deepest-dwelling animals ever found in Australia. The new species is one of many new deep-sea creatures discovered on a recent expedition that used a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) near southern Tasmania, Australia.  National geographic news

Photos Unlimited / Spitting Cobras in the Philippines
January 23, 2009, 05:55:01 AM
There are cobras in farms located in Butuan and some of us either have farms. or visit farms owned by releatives. Though I am not sure if the Naja philippinensis version of the cobra is found in Mindanao I'm am going to share this article about them. I do believe that this posting has relevance to Butuan.
Spitting Cobras' Sharp-Shooting Secrets
Jennifer Viegas, Discovery News

Jan. 21, 2009 -- Spitting cobras spew blinding venom toward the eyes and face of victims with surprising accuracy, and now researchers know how they do it.
Venom spitting -- a defense mechanism only -- is a two-part process that's part muscle and part like a baseball pitcher psyching out batters before winding up before a throw, indicates a new study published in the latest issue of Physiological and Biochemical Zoology.
"Since the venom can cover a distance of over 6.5 feet, and the snakes appear to be very accurate, it is presumed to be a good deterrent," said Bruce Young, a biologist at the University of Massachusetts , Lowell , and lead author of the study.
For the study, Young and colleagues Melissa Boetig and Guido Westhoff analyzed adult, captive specimens of the red spitting cobra, the black-neck spitting cobra and the black-and-white spitting cobra.   Equipped with a special visor to protect his eyes, Young had the indelicate task of taunting the snakes by moving his head in front of them. The visor was outfitted with a custom-made accelerometer system allowing a computer to track the movements of Young's head in three dimensions. During one experiment, the researchers also anesthetized some of the snakes and implanted electromagnetic leads to monitor a muscle that controls the venom gland, as well as the movements of the snake's head and neck.
The scientists found that before a spitting cobra releases its venom, a muscle contracts, displacing tissue barriers in the snake's fangs that normally prevent the flow of venom. More muscle contractions increase pressure within the venom gland, propelling a stream of venom out the fangs.
The spitting wind-up explained, the snakes' accuracy was still a mystery.
"When we looked carefully at the data, we found that the cobras always spat shortly after I changed the direction my head was moving," Young said.
He added that when he was moving his head, the snake was also rotating its head, winding itself up before the impending hurl.
"This really boils down to geometry," Young explained. "Since I am moving linearly at a distance from the snake, the snake need only make slight angular movements to follow me. Once the cobra starts spitting, it accelerates the movements of its head, and this enables the snake to actually 'lead' its target and spray the venom to where it thinks the target's eyes are going to be."
The researchers further discovered that spitting cobras don't release their venom as a stream, mist or cloud. The liquid poison instead sprays out in distinctive geometric patterns, typically consisting of paired ovals. The scientists suspect this increases the overall area covered by the spray, heightening the snake's chances of hitting the eyes.
Aside from causing temporary or permanent blindness, the venom, if it penetrates the open eye, can enter the victim's body, sometimes leading to additional systemic problems.
Aaron Krochmal, assistant professor of biology at Washington College , also studies snakes.
Krochmal told Discovery News that the new study "is, quite simply, top notch," and that "there are some very interesting and important findings."
Young and his team are now focusing on the snakes' vision in relation to its reaction time.

What is Weiberfastnacht?
Die Tollen Tagen still play a very important part in the traditions of Carnival. Weiberfastnacht translates as Old Wives Day and on this day females are permitted to go out and party regardless of their marital status. They generally wear masks and costumes away from home so that husbands and boyfriends cannot recognise them. A female cannot be condemned for her actions, other than criminal activity, on this day. They each carry a pair of scissors with which to cut off the tie of any man foolish enough to wear one on this day.

Carnival season is a time of wild fancy-dress parties and costume-balls, which are open to the public. Carnival reaches its climax in big street processions with elaborately decorated floats, usually on Rosenmontag. Carnival celebrations happen mainly in the Catholic parts of Germany. Nevertheless, Karneval parties do occur in some places in the north of Germany.

Violence marred the cease-fire in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday as Hamas gunmen fired mortar shells into Israel and opened fire on IDF troops who remained inside the Palestinian territory.

In the afternoon, IAF aircraft bombed a mortar launcher in the Gaza Strip that had been used hours earlier to fire some eight mortar shells into the Negev. It was the first air strike against Gaza since Israel unilaterally implemented a cease-fire there on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Gaza gunmen fired at IDF patrols in two separate incidents that marked the first violations of the cease-fire Hamas accepted on Sunday after the IDF began withdrawing its forces from Gaza. ( The Jerusalem Post

Same-sex marriage assimilates gay people
If gay people are allowed to marry they will be assimilated into society and will lose their uniquely gay identity.

Queers are proud of their identity; they don't want to be assimilated.

Same-sex marriage reinforces stigmatisation
Same-sex marriage creates two classes of homosexual in the eyes of society:

'Good' homosexuals marry and are labelled as members of committed loving relationships;
'Bad' homosexuals are the ones who don't marry and are stigmatised for preferring a promiscuous life-style
Queers believe that the gay community should not sign up to a revised method of stigmatising some homosexuals.

Who are you calling 'queer'?
"We're here, we're queer, get used to it."
For many years queer was an offensive term applied to homosexuals. But over the last 20 years or so, the word has been turned around and is the word chosen by some homosexuals to refer to themselves and their ideas.

Queer is the word often preferred by homosexuals who don't want to be part of the heterosexual mainstream and who believe that they would betray their identity by mimicking heterosexual culture and institutions.
