Every Christian who is a true imitator and follower of the fair Nazarene can and must call himself a second Christ and show forth most clearly in his life the entire image of Christ.

The answer is not really correct. This airline has lousy services and if I could find some mails from last year I will publish it here  so you might hear  some complains of the passengers who had the misfortune of flying Cebu Pacific. There were allegations the it is not punctual. The planes are not well maintained which causes the delay. In case of complains the employees does not give correct advice and some are billeted in cheap hotels.
This email was from an expat who went to Cagayan de Oro City.

Brave Lady  indeed!
WATCH THIS, BEFORE IT'S TAKEN OFF THE WEB...  subtitled

It is extremely surprising  that the Arab financed TV station in Dubai would allow this to  air. Be sure and watch this, it is so powerful I have no doubt  she now has very large price on her head. I also have no  doubt  it won't be on the net very long. She is one  impressive woman.

Here is a powerful and amazing  statement on Al Jazeera television. The woman is Wafa Sultan, an  Arab-American psychologist from Los Angeles . I would suggest  watching it ASAP because I don't know how long the link will be  active. This film clip should be shown around the world  repeatedly!

Talk of the Town / Re: Helmet as a protection?
February 10, 2009, 10:34:45 PM
Riders with helmets had an 85 percent reduction in their risk of head injury (odds ratio, 0.15; 95 percent confidence interval, 0.07 to 0.29) and an 88 percent reduction in their risk of brain injury (odds ratio, 0.12; 95 percent confidence interval, 0.04 to 0.40). We conclude that bicycle safety helmets are highly effective in preventing head injury. Helmets are particularly important.

Unsa man ang katungod sa lalaki nga mangulata ug babaye? Why this violence?

Key facts:

    * Violence against women is a major public health problem and a violation of human rights.
    * A lack of access to education and opportunity, and low social status in communities are linked to violence against women.
    * Violence by an intimate partner is one of the most common forms of violence against women.
    * A wide range of physical, mental, sexual and reproductive, and maternal health problems can result from violence against women.
    * Many women do not seek help or report their experiences when violence occurs.

The United Nations defines violence against women as any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.

There are many forms of violence against women, including sexual, physical, or emotional abuse by an intimate partner; physical or sexual abuse by family members or others; sexual harassment and abuse by authority figures (such as teachers, police officers or employers); trafficking for forced labour or sex; and such traditional practices as forced or child marriages, dowry-related violence; and honour killings, when women are murdered in the name of family honour. Systematic sexual abuse in conflict situations is another form of violence against women.WHO report.

This is one of my worries since I have a 15-year old son. I work all day and I came late in the evening, so I tell him things which he might see and can´t cope emotionally. I don´t apply censor here because it could increase his curiousity or he might go somewhere else to a friend or classmate and simply surf the things not allowed here in my house.
I simply appeal to his conscience, what is good and educational for him.  A couple of years from now he can do anything he could. Of course I do pray a lot that he might be guided spiritually.

May I offer you some tips? I apply this to my kids and they grew fast;

Sing your baby to sleep, if she is asleep play a soft music like classical for example. Brush her hair regulary. Massage her palms and fingers tenderly to stimulate her brain and facilitate the connecting of her brain synapses. This will accelerate her motoric nerves, she learns to speak and walk faster.I will put more details later on.

nag surf ko dinhi kay morag curious ko kon pila ang magasto magpadako sa bata hangtud 20 anyos, aboton ug 706, 434 US Dollars. This was according to a Swiss survey. They counted the number of hours a mother care and watch for her baby and the disadvantage that she earns less because she has to concentrate more on the siblings.
So if I calculate how much i spent a daughter (26) and a son (15), dugay na unta ko nga milyonarya!
But all the pains and burdens of rearing, is nothing in compare to the joy and fulfillment being a mother.

St Scholastica

Scholastica was dedicated to God from a young age (some tellings of her story indicate that she preceded Benedict in godliness, and he came to holiness after she did, and in her wake). The most commonly told story about her is that she would, once a year, go and visit her brother at his abbey, and they would spend the day worshiping together and discussing sacred texts and issues.

At the end of the day, they had supper and continued their conversation. When Benedict indicated it was time for him to leave, she protested, and begged him to stay with her for the evening so they could continue their discussions. He refused, insisting that he needed to return to his cell. At that point, Scholastica closed her hands in prayer, and after a moment, a wild storm started outside of the guest house in which they were housed. Benedict asked, "What have you done?", to which she replied, "I asked you and you would not listen; so I asked my God and he did listen. So now go off, if you can, leave me and return to your monastery."

Benedict was unable to return to his monastery, and they spent the night in discussion. According to St. Gregory's Dialogues, three days later, from his cell, he saw his sister's soul leaving the earth and ascending to heaven in the form of a shining white dove.

Her feast day is February 10. St. Scholastica is the patron saint of convulsive children, nuns, and is invoked against storms and rain.

Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich,

Mystic, Visionary, Stigmatist, Prophet

The greatest visionary in the history of the Church...

Anne Catherine Emmerich was told by Our Lord that her gift of seeing the past, present, and future in mystic vision was greater than that possessed by anyone else in history. Born at Flamske in Westphalia, Germany, on September 8, 1774, she became a nun of the Augustinian Order at Dulmen. She had the use of reason from her birth and could understand liturgical Latin from her first time at Mass. During the last 12 years of her life, she could eat no food except Holy Communion, nor take any drink except water, subsisting entirely on the Holy Eucharist. From 1802 until her death, she bore the wounds of the Crown of Thorns, and from 1812, the full stigmata of Our Lord, including a cross over her heart and the wound from the lance.

Anne Catherine Emmerich possessed the gift of reading hearts, and she saw, in actual, visual detail, the facts of Catholic belief which most of us simply have to accept on faith. The basic truths of the catechismâ€"angels, devils, Purgatory, the life of Our Lord and the Blessed Mother, the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, the grace of the Sacramentsâ€"all these truths were as real to her as the material world. Her revelations make the hidden, supernatural world come alive. Below are some of the most enthralling of these revelations:

    * She saw that each parish and diocese, each city and country has its own particular and powerful guardian angel.
    * She saw that the Church never has allowed children of Catholics to be raised outside her fold, and that as soon as solidly established, she banned mixed marriages.
    * She saw how the various indulgences we gain actually remit specific punishments which otherwise would await us in Purgatory.
    * She revealed that to gain an indulgence we must approach the Sacraments with true repentance and a firm purpose of amendmentâ€"or we do not gain it.
    * She deposes that it is more holy to pray for the Poor Souls in Purgatory than for sinners who are still alive.
    * She describes the nature, extent and power of victim souls, and their role in the life of the Church. She describes the condition of St. Lydwine of Schiedam, a victim soul during the time of "three popes," and how her body came apart into three pieces, joined only by the slenderest of sinews. She saw only 6 victim souls in her time working like herself on behalf of the Universal Church, and about 100,000 Catholic people worldwide who were great in their faith.
    * She revealed that saints are particularly powerful on their feast days and should be invoked then.
    * She saw that many saints come from the same families, the antiquity of which often extends far back into the Old Testament.
    * She saw the strong linkâ€"even long after their deathsâ€"between holy souls in Heaven and their descendants here on earth, lasting even centuries.
    * She saw that the Garden of Eden, with all it contained, was a perfect picture of the Kingdom of God.
    * She revealed that Enoch and Elias are in Paradise where they await their return to the world to preach at the End of Time.
    * She revealed that Our Lord suffered from the wound in His shoulder more than from any other.
    * She continually saw a false church, and wicked men scheming against the Catholic Church and doing much harmâ€"both in her own time and in the future.
    * She saw in a vision the enemies of the Church tearing it down and trying to build a new one on strictly human plansâ€"but none of the saints would lend a hand. Later, this church of men is destroyed and the saints of God join in to rebuild the true Church of God, which becomes more glorious than ever before.
    * She saw the revival of the priesthood and the religious orders after a period of great decadence.
    * She describes in detail her visions of heaven, which she saw as "the Heavenly Jerusalem."

Powerful Quotes from Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich:

"The Church is the only one, the Roman Catholic! And if there were left upon earth but one Catholic, he would be the one, universal Church, the Catholic Church, the Church of Jesus Christ against which the gates of Hell shall never prevail."

"Then I had the sweet assurance that Mary is the Church; the Church, our mother; God, our father; and Jesus, our brother."

"O who can tell the beauty, the purity, the innocence of Mary! She knows everything, and yet she seems to know nothing, so childlike is she. She lowers her eyes and, when she looks up, her glance penetrates like a ray, like a pure beam of light, like truth itself! It is because she is perfectly innocent, full of God, and without returns upon self. None can resist her grace."

"All over the world I saw numberless infusions of the Spirit; sometimes, like a lightning-stroke, falling on a congregation in church, and I could tell who among them had received the grace; or again, I beheld individuals praying in their homes, suddenly endowed with light and strength. The sight awoke in me great joy and confidence that the Church, amid her ever-increasing tribulations, will not succumb; for in all parts of the world I saw defenders raised up to her by the Holy Ghost. Yes, I felt that the oppression of the powers of this world serves but to increase her strength."

"There is no created good so lightly esteemed, so carelessly trifled away by an immense majority of human beings as the fugitive moments of this short life so rapidly flying toward eternity."

"Man's value before God is estimated by the dispositions of his heart, its uprightness, its good-will, its charity, and not by keenness of intellect or extent of knowledge."

"If the Church is true, all in her is true; he who admits not the one, believes not the other."

"What the Pilgrim [Clement Brentano, her self-appointed secretary] gathers he will bear far away, for here there is no desire to have it. But it will produce fruit where he goes, and that same fruit will one day return and make itself felt even here."

"I was again told [by Our Lord] that no one has ever seen all that I have seen or in the same way."

"From the lips of those that pray I see a chain of words issuing like a fiery stream and mounting up to God, and in them I see the disposition of the one who prays, I read everything. The writing is as varied as the individuals themselves."

"I saw Adam's bones reposing in a cavern under Mt. Calvary deep down, almost to water level, and in a straight line beneath the spot on which Jesus Christ was crucified."

"Mass badly celebrated is an enormous evil. Ah! it is not a matter of indifference how it is said! . . . I have had a great vision on the mystery of Holy Mass and I have seen that whatever good has existed since creation is owing to it."

"Were man and the earth in perfect harmony, there would be paradise here below. Prayer governs the weather . . . I see the life of nature intimately connected with that of the soul."

"She said what is most painful for me to repeat, that if only one priest offered the Unbloody Sacrifice as worthily and with the same sentiments as the Apostles, he could ward off all calamities from the Church."

"I can never grieve for a person who dies resignedly, nor for a child suffering patiently; for patient suffering is the most enviable state of man."

"Now, for all who are not in living union with Jesus Christ by faith and grace, nature is full of Satan's influence."

"Owing to the spirit of the world and tepidity, if the Savior returned to earth today to announce His doctrine in person, He would find as many opponents as He did among the Jews."

"Now I saw clearly by this that the dear God looks only at the heart in time of prayer."

"No grace, no degree of sanctity surpasses in intrinsic dignity and grandeur the sacerdotal [priestly] character."

"The poor souls suffer inexpressibly."

"Many stay a long time in purgatory who, although not great sinners, have lived tepidly."

"The prayer most pleasing to God is that made for others and particularly for the poor souls. Pray for them, if you want your prayers to bring high interest."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friends I know this is not a minute meditations anymore, but I want to share this to you since she will be remembered tomorrow  Feb 9, pray to her.

Werewolf boy appeals to doctors to find a cure
Thatsweird.net

An 11-year-old "werewolf" boy who desperately seeks a cure for his condition is baffling medical experts.

Pruthviraj Patil is one of 50 in the world who suffers from hypertrichosis, a rare genetic condition known as Werewolf Syndrome.

As a result his face and body is covered in thick, matted hair.

But he is hoping doctors will one day find a cure for his ailment.

Born in the Indian district of Sangli, near Bombey, he hardly ever leaves his village because of his fear of being traunted by strangers.

The only parts of his body that are not covered with hair are the palms of his hands and soles of his feet.

The son of a well off farmer, his parents have tried homeopathy, traditional Ayurvedic remedies and laser surgery. But none of them have worked.

It is believe his genetic condition was caused by a flaw during pregnancy.

"Why did God do this to us," his 32-year-old mother Anita pleads. "He looks so odd and whever we go people throng to see him."

Plastic surgeon Vinay6 Saoji has examined the boy and confirms that the condition is very rare.

"Hairy nevus, where a person has patches of excess growth, or hirsurism, is not uncommon, but hair persisting all over the body is very rare," he added.

Pruthviraj says he is anxious to get the hair removed but even after laser treatment it simply grows back.

The doctors don't have any answers to his predicament.

When he first went to school he said he got bullied and the other children laughed at him. But now they have got used to him and they treat him like normal.

He appealed to the doctors to help find him a permanent cure.

Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.
- Zora Neale Hurston

Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. Everything is, everything exists, only because I love.
- Leo Tolstoy

Love is like quicksilver in the hand. Leave the fingers open and it stays. Clutch it, and it darts away.
- Dorothy Parker

I have learned not to worry about love; but to honor its coming with all my heart.
- Alice Walker

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
than this: where I does not exist nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

more quotations;

Love has no desire but to fulfill itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires;
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
- Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.

Love Talk / The history of Valentines day
February 08, 2009, 06:02:20 AM
Every February, across the country, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate this holiday? The history of Valentine's Day — and its patron saint — is shrouded in mystery. But we do know that February has long been a month of romance. St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. So, who was Saint Valentine and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? Today, the Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred.
One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men — his crop of potential soldiers. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first 'valentine' greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl — who may have been his jailor's daughter — who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed 'From your Valentine,' an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories certainly emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and, most importantly, romantic figure. It's no surprise that by the Middle Ages, Valentine was one of the most popular saints in England and France.
While some believe that Valentine's Day is celebrated in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine's death or burial — which probably occurred around 270 A.D — others claim that the Christian church may have decided to celebrate Valentine's feast day in the middle of February in an effort to 'christianize' celebrations of the pagan Lupercalia festival. In ancient Rome, February was the official beginning of spring and was considered a time for purification. Houses were ritually cleansed by sweeping them out and then sprinkling salt and a type of wheat called spelt throughout their interiors. Lupercalia, which began at the ides of February, February 15, was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus.

Croc Bites Off Hand

Kaohsiung, Taiwan, April 11, 2007â€"Armed and dangerous, a Nile crocodile prowls the Kaohsiung, Taiwan, zoo (top) on April 11, 2007. Veterinarian Chang Po-yu was reaching through iron bars to remove tranquilizer darts before treating the 440-pound (200-kilogram) reptile when the inadequately sedated animal bit the vet's forearm off.

But for the vet, it wasn't quite a farewell to arm.

After being shot at twice, but apparently unhit, the croc dropped the arm. After seven hours of surgery, doctors successfully reattached the appendage, shown at bottom on a smiling Chang on April 12.

The largest African crocodile species, the Nile croc may be threatened in some parts of its range, according to the World Conservation Union. The reptiles can reach 16 feet (5 meters) in length and are estimated to kill 200 people a year.

Jerome Emiliani

Born: 1481

Died: 1537

Canonized: 1767

Feast Day: February 8

Patron Saint of: orphans

Jerome was born in 1481, the son of a noble family of Venice, Italy. He was a good soldier and was put in command of Castelnuovo, a fortress high in the Italian mountains. While defending this post from an invasion by the Venetian troops of Maximilian I, he was taken prisoner and thrown into a dungeon. Chained in prison, he began to regret the choices he had made in his life. He was sorry that he had thought so little about God and for wasting several years in immoral living. Jerome promised the Blessed Mother that he would change his life if she would help him escape this imprisonment. His prayers were answered and he escaped to safety. It is said that Jerome, with grateful heart, went straight to a church in Trevisio where he hung his prison chains in front of Mary's altar.

Jerome was true to his promise to the Blessed Mother and was eventually ordained a priest in Venice. He was devoted to works of charity. His special concern was for the many homeless orphan children he found in the streets. Jerome rented a house for these orphans, and gave them clothes and food, and instructed them in the faith. St. Jerome intensified the care for the orphans, establishing orphanages in several Italian towns and started a religious congregation of men called the Company of the Servants of the Poor with the mission to care for the poor, especially orphans.

St. Jerome died while caring for plague victims in 1537. He was proclaimed a saint by Pope Benedict XIV in 1767. He is known as the patron saint of orphans.

Looran was explained to me by a German friend as somebody who is a loving person. He/she gives so much and loves tenderly, that´s why when this person gets hurt, it has the tendency to hide, and discern the whole thing, whereas a callous person/insensitive will just let it easily pass by because it has lesser profound feelings.
I am also looran, Bol-anon gud ko and I care.

Bad things do happen to good people. We cannot comprehend why a merciful God allows this. There is a process involved in coming to terms with the fact that we may never know why these things happen. God desires to carry us through those incredibly difficult times and He promises to provide every resource we need to deal with the difficulties we encounter. He is a God of mercy and cares deeply about us.
Let this issue be given to God.

You’ve read about the weirdest home remedies, and you know about some of the strangest diseases to plague humankind. But the positively implausible treatments of yesteryear deserve a mention also. Here are just a few bizarre outdated home remedies that are virtually guaranteed not to work. These are all real folk remedies that have been used at one time or another. (In case you’re wondering, we don’t endorse or condone the actual use of any of these treatments.)

For earaches, de-shell a snail and put the snail’s “froth” in your ears. (If anyone knows how to harvest snail froth, please leave a comment. We’re dying of curiosity.)

Fresco icon of St. Theodore Stratelates
(Zemen monastery, Bulgaria).Theodore was appointed military-commander (stratelatos) in the city of Heracleion, during the time the emperor Licinius (307â€"324) began a fierce persecution of Christians. Theodore himself invited Licinius to Heracleium, having promised to offer a sacrifice to the pagan gods. He requested that all the gold and silver statues of the gods which they had in Heracleion be gathered up at his house. Theodore then smashed them into pieces which he then distributed to the poor.

Theodore was arrested and subjected to torture and crucified. The witness was his servant Varos (also venerated as a saint). In the morning the imperial soldiers found him alive and unharmed. Not wanting to flee a martyr's death, Theodore voluntarily gave himself over again into the hands of Licinius, and was beheaded by the sword. This occurred on 8 February 319, on a Saturday, at the third hour of the day.

His annual commemoration is kept on 8 February (21 February N.S.).

St. Paul Miki and Companions

(d. 1597)

Nagasaki, Japan, is familiar to Americans as the city on which the second atomic bomb was dropped, killing hundreds of thousands. Three and a half centuries before, 26 martyrs of Japan were crucified on a hill, now known as the Holy Mountain, overlooking Nagasaki. Among them were priests, brothers and laymen, Franciscans, Jesuits and members of the Secular Franciscan Order; there were catechists, doctors, simple artisans and servants, old men and innocent childrenâ€"all united in a common faith and love for Jesus and his Church.
Brother Paul Miki, a Jesuit and a native of Japan, has become the best known among the martyrs of Japan. While hanging upon a cross Paul Miki preached to the people gathered for the execution: “The sentence of judgment says these men came to Japan from the Philippines, but I did not come from any other country. I am a true Japanese. The only reason for my being killed is that I have taught the doctrine of Christ. I certainly did teach the doctrine of Christ. I thank God it is for this reason I die. I believe that I am telling only the truth before I die. I know you believe me and I want to say to you all once again: Ask Christ to help you to become happy. I obey Christ. After Christ’s example I forgive my persecutors. I do not hate them. I ask God to have pity on all, and I hope my blood will fall on my fellow men as a fruitful rain.”

When missionaries returned to Japan in the 1860s, at first they found no trace of Christianity. But after establishing themselves they found that thousands of Christians lived around Nagasaki and that they had secretly preserved the faith. Beatified in 1627, the martyrs of Japan were finally canonized in 1862.
