O kind and good Mother,
whose own soul was pierced by the sword of sorrow,
look upon us while,
in our sickness,
we arraign ourselves beside you
on the Calvary where your Jesus hangs.

Dowered with the high grace of suffering,
and hopeful of fulfilling in our own flesh
what is wanting in our sharing of Christ's passion,
on behalf of his Mystical Body, the Church,
we consecrate to you ourselves and our pain.
We pray that you will place them
on that Altar of the Cross to which Jesus is affixed.
May they be little victims of propitiation for our salvation,
for the salvation of all peoples.

O Mother of Sorrows,
accept this consecration.
Strengthen our hopeful hearts,
that as partakers of Christ's sufferings
we may also share in his comfort now and for evermore.

Amen.

Bible Study / Prayer for the Sick and Seniors
November 29, 2012, 04:02:56 PM
All praise and glory are yours,
Lord our God.
For you have called us to serve you and one another in
love.
Bless our sick today so that they may bear their illness
in union with Jesus' sufferings and restore them quickly
to health.
Bless those who have grown old in your service
and give them courage and strength in their faith.
Lead us all to eternal glory.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Your Son, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

Mother of Perpetual Help pray for us.

Three Hail Marys.

I agree.. Always wear a SMILE (bisan gisapot na to the max) that's what I do.. hehe ;D ;D

he he he! your statement reminded me of the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, my dearest Jenneth:

It goes like this:-

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace!

That where there is hatred, I may bring love.

That where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness.

That where there is discord, I may bring harmony.

That where there is error, I may bring truth.

That where there is doubt, I may bring faith.

That where there is despair, I may bring hope.

That where there are shadows, I may bring light.

That where there is sadness, I may bring joy.

Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort, than to be comforted.

To understand, than to be understood.

To love, than to be loved.

For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.

It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.

It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.

Bible Study / Golden Arrow Prayer
November 29, 2012, 03:51:07 PM
May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most mysterious and unutterable Name of God be always praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified in heaven on earth and under the earth, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ in the most Holy Sacrament of the altar. Amen.

This prayer was revealed by Our Lord to a Carmelite Nun of Tours in 1843 as a reparation for blasphemy. "This Golden Arrow will wound My Heart delightfully," He said, "and heal the wounds inflicted by blasphemy." Imprimatur: T. J. Toolen, Archbishop of Mobile-Birm.

Bible Study / Prayer To Protect Life
November 29, 2012, 03:47:32 PM
Loving God, I thank you for the gift of life you gave and continue to give to me and to all of us.
Merciful God, I ask your pardon and forgiveness for my own failure and the failure of all people to respect and foster all forms of life in our universe.

Gracious God, I pray that with your grace, I and all people will reverence, protect, and promote all life and that we will be especially sensitive to the life of the unborn, the abused, neglected, disabled, and the elderly. I pray, too, that all who make decisions about life in any form will do so with wisdom, love, and courage.

Living God, I praise and glorify you as Father, Source of all life, as Son, Savior of our lives, and as Spirit, Sanctifier of our lives.

Amen.

May Christ support us all the day long, till the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over and our work is done. Then in his mercy may he give us a safe lodging, and holy rest and peace at the last.

By the power of the Will of God, all things are possible. For what is impossible for man, is possible for God, who alone is Holy, Perfect and Just. Glory to God in the Highest and Peace to His people on earth...

St. Anthony, perfect imitator of Jesus, who received from God the special power of restoring lost things, grant that I may find [name the item] which has been lost. At least restore to me peace and tranquility of mind, the loss of which has afflicted me even more than my material loss. To this favor, I ask another of you: that I may always remain in possession of the true good that is God. Let me rather lose all things than lose God, my supreme good. Let me never suffer the loss of my greatest treasure, eternal life with God. Amen.
#8411
Saint Anthony, you are glorious for your miracles and for the condescension of Jesus who came as a little child to lie in your arms. Obtain for me from His bounty the grace which I ardently desire. You were so compassionate toward sinners, do not regard my unworthiness. Let the glory of God be magnified by you in connection with the particular request that I earnestly present to you. {mention your petition} As a pledge of my gratitude, I promise to live more faithfully in accordance with the teachings of the church, and to be devoted to the service of the poor whom you loved and still love so greatly. Bless this resolution of mine that I may be faithful to it until death. Saint Anthony, consoler of all the afflicted, pray for me. Saint Anthony, helper of all who invoke you, pray for me. Saint Anthony, whom the Infant Jesus loved and honored so much, pray for me. Amen.

Your influence before the throne of God is so effective that the Lord readily grants great favors at your request. Please listen to my humble petition in spite of my unworthiness and sinfulness. Consider only your great and constant love for Jesus and Mary, and my desire for their glory and mercy. I beg you to obtain for me the grace I so greatly need, if it be God's will and for the good of my soul. I place this earnest petition in the care of the little mission children so that they may present it to you along their innocent prayers. Bless me, powerful Saint Anthony, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I think we should consider ourselves lucky that a high profile international singer like J.Lo has picked our country as one of her destination of her world tour concert. If Miriam says she likes classical music, then somebody must have told her the wrong information what genre of music J.Lo is associated with.

Hi Doc Lorenz,
Found this thread interesting, basahon ni nako nga thread sa day off, basahon nako from page 1, gusto ko aning discussion nimo about hormones. PCOS patient man gud ko unya ingon akoa OB dili ko tig ovulate.

Thanks.

Hi Joy,

PCOS - polycystic ovarian syndrome - is one of the most common endocrine disorders in reproductive women, with a prevalence of 6-10% among women in the US of reproductive age.

Women with PCOS are also at an increased risk for the following:
1. type 2 DM (diabetes mellitus; insulin dependent)
2. insulin resistance
3. infertility
4. metabolic syndrome - insulin resistance, obesity, atherogenic dyslipidemia, and hypertension

TREATMENT
1. Women are not attempting to conceive: treat with a combination of OCPs, progestin, and metformin (or other insulin-sensitizing agents)

2. Women who are attempting to conceive: Clomiphene + / - metformin is first line treatment for ovulatory stimulation

3. Symptom-specific treatment:
    a. Hirsutism: combination OCPs are first line; antiandrogens (spironolactone, finasteride) and metformin may also be used

    b. Cardiovascular risk factors and lipid levels: diet, weight loss, and exercise plus potentially lipid-controlling medications (e.g., statins).

If you have any other specific questions relating to PCOS, please ask it here, Joy.

Sincerely,
Dr. Lorenz

You're most welcome, Jenneth. You know what also helps? he he he! When my gf had her menstrual periods, she also developed very debilitating headaches! To help reduce her pain ( i don't like it when she takes too much drugs ) , I will buy her chocolates. Incidentally, chocolates stimulates the release of a neuroendocrinal hormone called Serotonin, which is responsible for the "feel good" sensation. It reduced her pain considerably.

Another was massage. I usually massage her body and her feet to reduce her pain.

Hello Jenneth,

Thank you for bringing your question here. During a fertile woman's monthly menstrual cycle, there are observable symptoms that the woman will feel. One of the noticeable symptoms are headaches, and even migraine-like headaches. During menstrual cycle there is a change in estrogen and progesterone levels. When estrogen levels drop very low, Jenneth, this will manifest in headaches. The lower the estrogen level, the more profound the headache.

You may try some remedies to help reduce your symptoms:

1) Try putting ice pad on the area of pain (usually around the head or the neck)
2) Exercise; this helps in the reduction of pain
3) If the pain is strong, it is recommended you take NSAIDS (non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs); ibuprofen, naproxen, celebrex

Jenneth, if you have a history of severe migraine-like headaches during your menstrual cycle, you should take NSAIDS some 3 days before the start of your menstrual cycle (this will take some monthly planning on your part!)

Mr. Daray,

No where in the bible is the word "TRINITY" or "HOLY TRINITY" explicitly being used by the authors. Mark, Luke, Timothy, Paul, Peter, John, James and Jude, the new testament authors, do not use this term at all. However, Mr. Daray, we as Christians believe in the presence and the authority of the Holy Trinity. Why, Mr. Daray? Because the Doctrine of the Holy Trinity is essential to the Christian faith, which separates Christianity from the early heresies that rejected the Trinitarian view.

Mr. Daray, do you know who established the unquestionable and irrefutable position of the Holy Trinity? Mr. Daray, it was first used actually by Tertullian, an early writer of the church. The 1st Council of Constantinople defined the Consubstantiality  of the Holy Spirit, God the Father and God the Son Jesus Christ. This established the Doctrine of the Holy Trinity. Note , Mr. Daray, that it was an extra-biblical authority that promulgated the Christian belief in the Holy Trinity.

Mr. Daray, just because a particular word or a doctrinal truth fails to be explicitly mentioned in the Holy Bible doesn't mean that it does not exist or is a fallacy. If you go by that argument, then you also undermine the Doctrine of the Holy Trinity, considering that it is not mentioned in the Holy Bible.

Additionally, the declaration of of the Immaculate Conception of Mary by His Holiness Pope Gregory XVI is merely the culmination of historical precedent. If you go back in church history, Pope Pius IX, as well as Pope Pius V consistently referred to Mary as the "Immaculate Mother". If we go back another millenia, to the 6th and 7th centuries, the early Catholic Church referred to Mary as Achrantos, which means pure, spotless, and holy. If we go back another 2-3 centuries, we see the early Church still referring to the Mother Mary as the Theotokos, which means sanctified bearer of the Christ Child.

If you examine the profundity of the history of Holy Mother Church, you will witness how consistent Holy Mother Church has been in her teachings, in the doctrinal truths that are taught. And all of these are provided to us through the Catechism and Canon Laws, which allows us to steer away from doctrinal errors.

GOD BLESS YOU, MR. DARAY!

Yours In Christ,
Lorenzo

Stretching out his hand over his disciples, the Lord Christ declared: Here are my mother and my brothers; anyone who does the will of my Father who sent me is my brother and sister and my mother. I would urge you to ponder these words. Did the Virgin Mary, who believed by faith and conceived by faith, who was the chosen one from whom our Savior was born among men, who was created by Christ before Christ was created in her â€" did she not do the will of the Father? Indeed the blessed Mary certainly did the Father’s will, and so it was for her a greater thing to have been Christ’s disciple than to have been his mother, and she was more blessed in her discipleship than in her motherhood. Hers was the happiness of first bearing in her womb him whom she would obey as her master.

Now listen and see if the words of Scripture do not agree with what I have said. The Lord was passing by and crowds were following him. His miracles gave proof of divine power. and a woman cried out: Happy is the womb that bore you, blessed is that womb! But the Lord, not wishing people to seek happiness in a purely physical relationship, replied: More blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it. Mary heard God’s word and kept it, and so she is blessed. She kept God’s truth in her mind, a nobler thing than carrying his body in her womb. The truth and the body were both Christ: he was kept in Mary’s mind insofar as he is truth, he was carried in her womb insofar as he is man; but what is kept in the mind is of a higher order than what is carried in the womb.

The Virgin Mary is both holy and blessed, and yet the Church is greater than she. Mary is a part of the Church, a member of the Church, a holy, an eminent â€" the most eminent â€" member, but still only a member of the entire body. The body undoubtedly is greater than she, one of its members. This body has the Lord for its head, and head and body together make up the whole Christ. In other words, our head is divine â€" our head is God.

Now, beloved, give me your whole attention, for you also are members of Christ; you also are the body of Christ. Consider how you yourselves can be among those of whom the Lord said: Here are my mother and my brothers. Do you wonder how you can be the mother of Christ? He himself said: Whoever hears and fulfils the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and my sister and my mother. As for our being the brothers and sisters of Christ, we can understand this because although there is only one inheritance and Christ is the only Son, his mercy would not allow him to remain alone. It was his wish that we too should be heirs of the Father, and co-heirs with himself.

Now having said that all of you are brothers of Christ, shall I not dare to call you his mother? Much less would I dare to deny his own words. Tell me how Mary became the mother of Christ, if it was not by giving birth to the members of Christ? You, to whom I am speaking, are the members of Christ. Of whom were you born? “Of Mother Church”, I hear the reply of your hearts. You became sons of this mother at your baptism, you came to birth then as members of Christ. Now you in your turn must draw to the font of baptism as many as you possibly can. You became sons when you were born there yourselves, and now by bringing others to birth in the same way, you have it in your power to become the mothers of Christ.

my siblings say so.  my father said no.

Whenever my younger siblings do something bad, I always remind them, "Doy, don't do that. You don't want to get latus like what happened to kuya do you?"

Mo respond sila dali, "Oh, no! We don't want that, kuya!"

Ah, part of the responsibility of being the 'eldest' is that the younger siblings learn from your mistake. huhuhu! and i made a lot of mistakes. :-[ :P

Pope Pius IX declared the Immaculate Conception of Mary an article of faith on this day, December 8, 1854. According to his pronouncement in Ineffabilis Deus, Mary was given grace to be sinless at the instant of her conception. Sin was shut out of her. The teaching was controversial among Christians at large. Neither Protestant nor Orthodox accept it.
In general Christians insist that any major doctrine must be clearly backed up by some Scripture. Catholics require the same. Yet, as the Catholic Encyclopedia admits: "No direct or categorical and stringent proof of the dogma can be brought forward from Scripture." Edward O'Connor, compiling a massive defense of the belief went even further, acknowledging that the idea was not even a tradition of the early church, coming to the fore about only 1100 AD.
According to O'Connor, the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception was "handicapped by the lack of any clear Scriptural evidence (or, even...any explicit patristic tradition) in its favor, but it even seemed to go counter to the clear teaching of St. Paul...and Christ's own declaration..."
What is more, many of the greatest fathers of the church and its "doctors," explicitly rejected the idea. How could this belief be accepted when it is not taught in Scripture, had at best a weak early tradition, and was explicitly rejected by theologians of the highest rank?
Although the early church recognized that God chose Mary for a special place in His plan, countless

Dear Mr. Daray,

Does the Holy Bible explicitly use the word "Trinity" ? Please answer this question.

John Wesley, like many of the protestant reformers of the 17th till 19th centuries contributed to the concept of the 'great awakening' in regards to the protestant movement, Mr. Daray. You are a deacon at a local baptist church there in Digos City, are you not? The baptist and anabaptist movement traces itself in the same theological line as the English Separatists, to which John Wesley came from. John Wesley founded the United Methodist Church, which is one of the largest protestant churches in the world. Wesley's evangelical missions contributed to the birth of many baptist movements in the United States, which then spread itself to the third world through missionary movements. Hence the plethora of baptist churches in the Philippines, vis-a-vis American missionaries who were influenced by Methodist theolology.

Without John Wesley, there would be no United Methodist Church, and without that, there would be no proliferation of the Baptist movement, which splintered from the original English Separatist View.

What is very interesting is that many proto-protestant churches such as the Lutheran Church, Presbyterian Church, United Methodist Church, Calvinist Church, as well as the Church of England (Anglican Church) are sympathetic to the theological doctrine of Immaculate Conception. Tho these churches splintered from Holy Mother Church [The One, Holy, Roman Catholic Church], it is quite interesting that they still maintain the theological doctrine of Perpetual Virginity of Mary as well as the Immaculate Conception of Mary.

The multitude of neo-protestant churches, namely the born-again movement, fundamental baptist movements, splintered from the proto-protestant church's theology. There is much more similarity between the Holy Mother Church and the proto-protestant churches than the neo-protestant churches. The dynamic of Church History is amazing.

Yours In Christ,

Mothers who talk to their babies actually stimulate the embryo's nervous system. Embryos are very perceptive ! They are sensitive to their mother's voice.

Cute.

When a patient passed away, one of the family members was crying. It was later made known to me that the particular family member was crying and telling his father how much he loved him, asking for his forgiveness. The son was weeping loudly, "Daddy, Daddy! Daddy don't go , please. I love you daddy!"

The son was in his 50's and his father who had passed away was in his 80's.

I'm sure that his father heard him. Even tho his father could not hug him or tell his son that he heard him or show any emotions, he heard him....

Absolutely correct, Brother Vince! Profound statement.

As someone slips into unconsciousness, it's usually hearing which is the last to be lost.

This is almost certainly the case also when someone is dying.

This is why you should continue to talk reassuringly to someone who is becoming unconscious or dying - they'll still be able to hear you even if they can't let you know....

Yes! The embryonic nervous system begins to form at the beginning of the 2nd week of embryonic life. It can "feel" some 2 weeks after conception. Embryos are also sensitive of their mother's feelings, maternal stress can lead to fetal tachycardia.

How does an embryo "breath" ?

Oxygenated blood is delivered to the fetus via the mother's umbilical vein. The umbilical vein provides the embryo with oxygenated blood & nutrients, the umbilical artery returns blood back to the maternal circulatory system.
