Please don’t let this bug you.

A staple on food carts in Asian countries, grasshoppers are essentially used as a crunchy carrier for spices or dipping sauces. However, grasshoppers can also make a great addition in gumbos, stews and as a filling for enchiladas, or covered in chocolate or honey and served as dessert. Over the course of our research, we ran across the Eat-a-Bug cookbook, which includes recipes such as chocolate cricket torte, three bee salad and others - it’d be a welcome addition to any chef’s library, or a really great way to bug them (pun intended!) from Marks daily Apple

ps
This is eaten widely in Africa and parts of Asia

The Kindness and the Severity of God - Romans 11:11-24

Your faith is shaped by what you look at. If your faith is to last and be strong, you must look at the kindness and severity of God in the Bible â€" you cannot read far without seeing both. In this series of sermons John Piper focuses on the mysterious working out of God’s divine purpose in the hardening and trespass of Israel in order to bring about the salvation of the Gentiles. He examines the tenderness and the toughness of God and considers how God’s kindness and severity work together to help us maintain our faith in Christ.

I beg to differ in this issue, please give me more details which David Sutton is being mentioned here. Germany doesn´ fit to this description. Maybe Holland or Belgium. But there is a truth about a book saying that Germans are latent racist.
The germans for my eyes are cold, haughty and smart aleck. They assume they are always right since they have  this superiority. I have been resident here in Germany since 1981, not much has improved.  I always improve my German knowledge so I could articulate what I really mean, that´s one of the key to be respected here.

Blood

What’s red and red and red all over?

Although we’ve come to believe that blood is food only for the vampire set, it is actually a popular cooking ingredient in Finland, Poland and other Baltic regions. While they’re certainly not drinking the blood straight from the…uhh…source, blood is often combined with other spices and fillings to add flavor to make blood sausages and blood pudding (which, if you’re traveling to the British Isles or other parts of Europe, is often sold as black pudding). In Thailand, blood is used as a dressing in a salad and meat based dish known as laap, and in Columbia, it is sometimes used as a seasoning or base for rice dishes. In the U.S., blood is significantly more difficult to get a hold of and its consumption is banned in many religions. As such, there aren’t a ton of nutritional data or recipes that we can share, but it’s always nice to know you have options!

St. Polycarp

(d. 156)

Polycarp, bishop of Smyrna (modern Izmir, Turkey), disciple of St. John the Apostle and friend of St. Ignatius of Antioch was a revered Christian leader during the first half of the second century.
St. Ignatius, on his way to Rome to be martyred, visited Polycarp at Smyrna, and later at Troas wrote him a personal letter. The Asia Minor Churches recognized Polycarp’s leadership by choosing him as a representative to discuss with Pope Anicetus the date of the Easter celebration in Romeâ€"quite a controversy in the early Church.

Only one of the many letters written by Polycarp has been preserved, the one he wrote to the Church of Philippi, Macedonia.

At 86, Polycarp was led into the crowded Smyrna stadium to be burned alive. The flames did not harm him and he was finally killed by a dagger. The centurion ordered the saint’s body burned. The “Acts” of Polycarp’s martyrdom are the earliest preserved, fully reliable account of a Christian martyr’s death. He died in 156.

Escargot
How about abalone, caracoles, queen conch, tsalingaria, ass’s ear shell, sea-ear, ormer or paua? Essentially, they’re all just fancy names for the same thing: Snail. Now, before you say eww, consider this: Snails are an excellent source of protein and an excellent source of several essential fatty acids, including linoleic acids and linolenic acids. The process of preparing the snails for cooking can be quite arduous (5 days of starving, 5 days of washing, lots of work!) but the good news is that you can usually purchase them “ready to go” at good supermarkets. Snails are delicious in vegetable-based soups, in a tomato sauce, as a stuffing in zucchini, or can even work well as a tapenade with almonds. And, of course, there’s always simple shucking them a la Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman…just be sure to heed her advice when she warns “they’re slippery little suckers!”

Blessed Jacinta and Francisco Marto

(1910-1920; 1908-1919)

Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three children, Portuguese shepherds from Aljustrel, received apparitions of Our Lady at Cova da Iria, near Fatima, a city 110 miles north of Lisbon. At that time, Europe was involved in an extremely bloody war. Portugal itself was in political turmoil, having overthrown its monarchy in 1910; the government disbanded religious organizations soon after.
At the first appearance, Mary asked the children to return to that spot on the thirteenth of each month for the next six months. She also asked them to learn to read and write and to pray the rosary “to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war.” They were to pray for sinners and for the conversion of Russia, which had recently overthrown Czar Nicholas II and was soon to fall under communism. Up to 90,000 people gathered for Mary’s final apparition on October 13, 1917.

Less than two years later, Francisco died of influenza in his family home. He was buried in the parish cemetery and then re-buried in the Fatima basilica in 1952. Jacinta died of influenza in Lisbon, offering her suffering for the conversion of sinners, peace in the world and the Holy Father. She was re-buried in the Fatima basilica in 1951. Their cousin, Lucia dos Santos, became a Carmelite nun and was still living when Jacinta and Francisco were beatified in 2000. Sister Lucia died in February 2005 at the age of 97. The shrine of Our Lady of Fatima is visited by up to 20 million people a year.

African Americans criticized a New York Post cartoon as racist on Wednesday, saying it likened President Barack Obama to an ape -- a potent image in the history of racism toward blacks.
Related Articles

The cartoon, which the newspaper defended as a parody of Washington politics, depicts a police shooting of an ape, playing off the real shooting of a pet chimpanzeee in Connecticut this week. One of the police officers says, "They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.“

"The cartoon in today’s New York Post is troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African Americans as being synonymous with monkeys,“ civil rights activist Al Sharpton said.

The cartoon, as publish in the New York Post
Calling the cartoon "offensive and divisive,“ he promised to stage a demonstration outside the Post offices on Thursday.

New York City Councilman Leroy Comrie said he received numerous calls from outraged constituents.

"To run such a violent, racist cartoon is an insult to all New Yorkers. This was an unfortunate incident in which a human being was seriously injured, not an opportunity to sling dangerous rhetoric,“ Comrie said in a statement.

New York Post Editor-in-Chief Col Allan said in a statement the cartoon was "a clear parody.“

"It broadly mocks Washington’s efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist,“ Allan said.

But the National Association of Black Journalists called the cartoon "the lowest common denominator of taste and class.“

"The publisher and editors of The New York Post owe its readers an explanation,“ association President Barbara Ciara said in a statement.

The right-leaning Post is owned by Rupert Murdoch’s international media conglomerate News Corp. from the New York Post.

St Peter Damian
21 February, Feastday

About 1035, however, he deserted his secular calling and, avoiding the compromised luxury of Cluniac monasteries, entered the isolated hermitage of Fonte Avellana, near Gubbio. Both as novice and as monk, his fervor was remarkable but led him to such extremes of self-mortification in penance that his health was affected. On his recovery, he was appointed to lecture to his fellow-monks, then, at the request of Guy of Pomposa and other heads of neighboring monasteries, for two or three years he lectured to their brethren also, and (about 1042) wrote the life of St. Romuald for the monks of Pietrapertosa. Soon after his return to Fonte Avellana he was appointed economus of the house by the prior, who designated him as his successor. This, in fact, he became in 1043, and he remained prior of Fonte Avellana till his death.

A zealot for monastic and clerical reform, he introduced a more severe discipline, including the practice of flagellation ("the disciplina"), into the house, which, under his rule, quickly attained celebrity, and became a model for other foundations, even the great abbey of Monte Cassino: subject-hermitages were founded at San Severino, Gamogna, Acerreta, Murciana, San Salvatore, Sitria and Ocri. There was much opposition outside his own circle to such extreme forms of penitence, but Peter's persistent advocacy ensured its acceptance, to such an extent that he was obliged later to moderate the imprudent zeal of some of his own hermits.

Another innovation was that of the daily siesta, to make up for the fatigue of the night office. During his tenure of the priorate a cloister was built, silver chalices and a silver processional cross were purchased, and many books added to the library.

St. Wulfric
Feastday: February 20
1154

Wulfric (d. 1154) + hermit and miracle worker. Born at Compton Martin, near Bristol, England, he became a priest and was excessively materialistic and worldly. After meeting with a beggar, he underwent a personal conversion and became a hermit at Haselbury; Somerset, England. For his remaining years, he devoted himself to rigorous austerities and was known for his miracles and prophecies. While he was never formally canonized, Wulfric was a very popular saint during the Middle Ages, and his tomb was visited by many pilgrims. Feast day: February 20.

The real blue man

Incredible as it seems, this is not paint or some elaborate tattoo. Karason's condition is a very rare, but medically recognized one: Argyria. It's a form of silver toxicity that comes from Paul's homemade treatment for another skin condition, dermatitis, that began to trouble him shortly before his transformation began. He drinks a potion of colloidal silver to keep the dermatitis at bay, but the side effect leaves his skin with its fascinating tinted shade.

Colloidal silver was once used as an antibiotic before penicillin became widely available, and seems to be treating Paul's other problem effectively. The elixir, made by using an electric current to strip silver atoms off a piece of metal and force them into a water-based solution, is rarely harmful; the Argyria is usually a benign side effect; one Paul is prepared to live with until the end of his days. The color change comes from the interaction of the silver particles with light; much like photographic paper, which often contains silver for this very reason, it darkens with exposure.

However, society has been less than understanding. Paul was forced to relocate to Madera, California this year in order to find a place to live that's more accepting of unorthodox personal lifestyle choices. Still, even in California, the state famed for tolerance, Paul may be hard-pressed to find people who will live up to the modern social credo, that all people are equal, no matter the color of skin.

In a recent interview, Paul said: "I hope that they just accept me, and I think that will happen here. Where I was, I rather doubt it would have. This is a different kind of community here."

St. Conrad of Piacenza

(1290-1350)

Born of a noble family in northern Italy, Conrad as a young man married Euphrosyne, daughter of a nobleman.
One day while hunting he ordered attendants to set fire to some brush in order to flush out the game. The fire spread to nearby fields and to a large forest. Conrad fled. An innocent peasant was imprisoned, tortured to confess and condemned to death. Conrad confessed his guilt, saved the man’s life and paid for the damaged property.

Soon after this event, Conrad and his wife agreed to separate: she to a Poor Clare monastery and he to a group of hermits following the Third Order Rule. His reputation for holiness, however, spread quickly. Since his many visitors destroyed his solitude, Conrad went to a more remote spot in Sicily where he lived 36 years as a hermit, praying for himself and for the rest of the world.

Prayer and penance were his answer to the temptations that beset him. Conrad died kneeling before a crucifix. He was canonized in 1625.

Casu Mazu from Sardinia
Sayang ang picture gamay, I saw the documented film about this cheese with maggots all wriggling ang jumping, this is not legally for sale but an old tradition of cheese making to be eaten with fresh baked italian bread and strong red wine.
Casu Marzu is a sheep' milk cheese that has been deliberately infested by a Piophila casei, the "cheese fly." The result is a maggot-ridden, weeping stink bomb in an advanced state of decomposition.

Its translucent larvae are able to jump about 6 inches into the air, making this the only cheese that requires eye protection while eating. The taste is strong enough to burn the tongue, and the larvae themselves pass through the stomach undigested, sometimes surviving long enough to breed in the intestine, where they attempt to bore through the walls, causing vomiting and bloody diarrhea.

Wait, it gets worse ...
This cheese is a delicacy in Sardinia, where it is illegal. That' right. It is illegal in the only place where people actually want to eat it. If this does not communicate a very clear message, perhaps the larvae will, as they leap desperately toward your face in an effort to escape the putrescent horror of the only home they have ever known. Even the cheese itself is ashamed; when prodded, it weeps an odorous liquid called lagrima, Sardinian for "tears

Abi nimo ihatekillers, I´m a member of FOSS (Friends of the Suffering Souls), I have been devoted to them since I was 15. Karon tigulang nako, I spent more time  praying for them. Your friend who died is tragic enough but she is not getting any peace if there are topics like these.

If you got time to surf visit the website of FOSS and Maria Silma. The last person I mentioned was able to contact with souls and she could communicate with them, about how they came to the purgatory and the ways to help them. Some souls stay at least 100 years accoding to Padre Pio of Pietrelcina. I wish that you could understand the profound meaning of the souls in the purgatory.

take care always,
Manay

And then we see from the word “repay” and “vengeance” that God’s wrath is his response to sin. God does not take vengeance on the innocent. When he repays with vengeance, we know there has been sinâ€"there is something to repay. And since he is meticulously just, that repayment will be a suitable vengeance, a proper vengeance. It will not be more or less than his perfect justice demands. So here is the definition again: The wrath of God is God’s settled anger toward sin expressed in the repayment of suitable vengeance on the guilty sinner.

Prayer Necessity

Prayer is as necessary as the air, as the blood in our bodies, and anything to keep us alive to the grace of God.

Ang kalag dili manmaws, kon dili mopahulay.

Here we have in verse 19 the phrase “wrath of God.” “Never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’” Last time we focused on the psychology of this verse and how it works to free us from the burden taking justice into our own hands. We focused on implications of the word “for” in verse 19: “Never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’” Since God is going to take up your cause and see to it that justice is done, you can lay it down. You don’t have to carry anger and bitterness and resentment and revenge. Indeed you dare not. Jesus warned that an unforgiving heart will destroy you in the end (Matthew 6:15; 18:35).

Difference between http & https.

FIRST, MANY PEOPLE ARE UNAWARE OF:
**The main difference between http:// and https:// <HTTPS:///>  is.
It's all about keeping you secure**

HTTP stands for HyperText Transport Protocol, which is just a fancy way of saying it's a protocol (a language, in a manner of speaking) for information to be passed back and forth between web servers and clients.

The important thing is the letter S which makes the difference between HTTP and HTTPS.

The S (big surprise) stands for "Secure". If you visit a website or webpage, and look at the address in the web browser, it will likely begin with the following: http://.

This means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular 'unsecure' language.

In other words, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the website.

If you fill out a form on the website, someone might see the information you send to that site.

This is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an http website!

But, if the web address begins with https:// <HTTPS:///> , that basically means your computer is talking to the website in a secure code that no one can eavesdrop on.

You understand why this is so important, right?

If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information, you should automatically look to see if the web address begins with https:// <HTTPS:///> .

If it doesn't, there's no way you're going to enter sensitive information like a credit card number.

PLEASE PASS IT ON.
(You may save someone a lot of grief).

Thank You!

Dear preciousNpolite,

I beg to differ in your attitude. You might be getting 3 square meals a day, but for some people who belongs to the marginalized sector, this is a light in the tunnel.
You could see it daily in Wowowee. A chance to get cash, fully packed , they just ignore the dangers of being trampled, which happened a couple of years ago.
This ICM raffle draw is a matter of word of honor. It was advertised, and then it was suddenly changed out of their whims, this is insulting to the loyal customers.
If I get the chance to spent holidays in Bohol, I will try my best to confront Mar Uy about this incident, no matter how old the issue is.

truly yours,
Manay tess

59th Berlinale

Lukas Moodysson tell how hard it is for each character involved to do his role well. This is about rich and poor, family and career.
Leo (Bernal) and Ellen (M Williams) are a happy couple with a daughter living in a posh loft in New York. Both are ambitious and successful in their careers. Gloria portrayed by M Necesito, worked hard as a nanny to save money and secure the future of her 2 sons left in the Philippines.
Leo´s travel in Thailand was extended and through this he met Cookie, a Thai prostitute. He clumsily fell in love but he misses his family in New York. Gloria suddenly decided to go home because one of her son was inured in an accident.
Ellen observed how her daughter missed her nanny.
Leo came home to his family, everyone seemed happy.
The film showed how each of the actors suffers from this internal conflict, choosing what really makes them happy, how to realize life to the full
In one interview,   L Moodysson the director, said, that manpower from the third world countires are badly needed. He added further if this group formed a contingent, New York City ( just to name as an example)  without nannies, househelpers, caregivers is impossible to imagine.

This film was highly acclaimed in Berlinale but sad to say it did not get any prize or award.
Mammoth revolves around successful New York couple Tom and Ellen, their eight year-old daughter Jackie and their Filipino nanny Gloria. On a business trip to Thailand Tom realizes that he wants to change his life. His decision sets in motion a highly intense and dramatic chain of events.
Mammoth” is directed by critically-acclaimed Swedish director Lukas Moodysson.
The movie also star mexican actor Gael Carcia Bernal of the award-winning movies like “Y Tu Mama Tambien” (And Your Mother Too), “El Crimen del Padre Amaro” (The Crime of Padre Amaro), and Hollywood actress Michelle Williams of Dawson’s Creek and Brokeback Mountain.
The movie is similar to some Filipino movies in which the story will revolve in a love triangle between a businessman (Bernal), his wife (Williams) and the nanny (Necesito).
Necesito is not a superstar in the Philippines, but she is a respected actress on stage, film and television productions. Necesito passed a rigorous audition to bag the plum role.
Necesito bested other respected local actresses in the “Mammoth” tryouts, including Alessandra de Rossi, Chinchin Gutierrez, Joyce Jimenez and even seasoned theater and screen thespian Pinky Amador.

World Daily News / Nuclear Subs Collide in Atlantic
February 18, 2009, 01:17:18 AM
HMS Vanguard and Le Triomphant were badly damaged in the crash in heavy seas earlier this month.

First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Jonathon Band said the submarines came into contact at low speed and no injuries were reported.

Both the UK and France insisted nuclear security had not been compromised.

The two submarines are key parts of each nation's nuclear deterrent, and would have been carrying missiles, though both the UK and France have insisted there was no danger of a nuclear incident.

"Now that this incident is public knowledge, the people of Britain, France and the rest of the world need to be reassured this can never happen again and that lessons are being learned."

Meanwhile, SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson has called for a government statement.

"The Ministry of Defence needs to explain how it is possible for a submarine carrying weapons of mass destruction to collide with another submarine carrying weapons of mass destruction in the middle of the world's second-largest ocean," he said.

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament described the collision as "a nuclear nightmare of the highest order".

CND chair Kate Hudson said: "The collision of two submarines, both with nuclear reactors and nuclear weapons onboard, could have released vast amounts of radiation and scattered scores of nuclear warheads across the seabed." BBC news
