You said it Steve, Martin is gone and she could have done a christian act of reconciliation and make peace with her in(out)-laws. How hard is her heart!
#7606
Pressy, you are absolutely right. The fact that the police were able to get their suspects didn´t mean that the case is solved. This is unprofessional for the investigating party. Valuable materials needed to clear the murder case might probably get lost.
#7607
Steve, I´m terribly sad to hear this. The whole situation is hard to understand because Filipinas are reared to show respect especially to our in-laws. The reaction of Martin´s ex-wife is not typical for Bol-anon. Martin is dead, still hatred prevails,  truly sad.
I pray from the bottom of my heart that justice prevails.

I had the chance to meet her here in Germany, Ms Marilou Frostrom.  Malou is a candidate for Masters in Business Administration (MBA) major in Marketing at the Ateneo Graduate School in Makati City and she was a cum laude graduate at the University of San Carlos in Cebu City with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in English with concentration in Secretarial Science. She was consistently in the Dean's List during her high school and college days. May she rest in peace.

BBC news;
The first funerals have been taking place for victims of the powerful earthquake which struck Italy's central Abruzzo region on Monday.

More than 270 people are now known to have died in the quake and about 28,000 were made homeless, officials say.

No survivors have been found since late on Tuesday and the relief effort has moved on to helping the survivors.

A mass funeral will be held in the regional capital L'Aquila on Friday on a day of mourning across the country.

Italian rescuers are continuing to search for survivors under buildings wrecked by a devastating earthquake which killed at least 207 people.

With 1,500 injured and some 17,000 homeless after Monday's quake struck L'Aquila and its region, many survivors spent the night in shelters.

Thousands of people are housed in makeshift shelter.

World Digital Library to be launched on April 21

http://www.worlddigitallibrary.org/project/english/index.html

'The Library of Congress, UNESCO and 32 partner institutions on April
21 will launch the World Digital Library, a website that features unique
cultural materials from libraries and archives from around the world. The
site will include manuscripts, maps, rare books, films, sound recordings,
and prints and photographs - available unrestricted to the public and free
of charge. The browseable, searchable site will function in seven languages
and offer content in dozens of languages.

The launch will take place at a reception at UNESCO's Paris
headquarters co-hosted by UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura and the
Librarian of Congress, James H. Billington. Directors of numerous partner
institutions will also be on hand to present the project to ambassadors,
ministers, delegates, and special guests attending the semi-annual meeting
of UNESCO's executive board ...

'Dr. Billington first proposed the creation of a World Digital Library
(WDL) to UNESCO in 2005, remarking that such a project could "have the
salutary effect of bringing people together by celebrating the depth and
uniqueness of different cultures in a single global undertaking."' For two
earlier entries about this project see the Latest News Archive under 22
November 2005 and 17 October 2007.

We still await details about which maps will be involved.

SYDNEY (AFP) – A pet dog that fell overboard in rough seas off Australia has been reunited with its owners after surviving alone on an island for four months, reports said.

Sophie Tucker, apparently named after a late US entertainer, fell overboard as Jan Griffith and her family sailed through choppy waters off the northeast Queensland coast in November.

The dog was believed to have drowned and Griffith said the family was devastated.

But out of sight of the family, Sophie Tucker was swimming doggedly and finally made it to St Bees Island, five nautical miles away, and began the sort of life popularised by the TV reality show "Survivor."

She was returned to her family last week when Griffith contacted rangers who had captured a dog that had been living off feral goats on the largely uninhabited island, in the faint hope it might be their long-lost pet.

When the Griffiths met the rangers' boat bringing the dog to the mainland they found that it was indeed Sophie Tucker on board.

"We called the dog and she started whimpering and banging the cage and they let her out and she just about flattened us," Griffith told the national AAP news agency.

"She wriggled around like a mad thing."

Griffith said that when the dog was first spotted on the island she had been in poor condition.

"And then all of a sudden she started to look good and it was when the rangers had found baby goat carcasses so she'd started eating baby goats," she said.

Sophie Tucker, a member of the Australian cattle dog breed, had been quick to readjust to the comforts of home, complete with airconditioning, Griffiths said.

"She surprised us all. She was a house dog and look what she's done, she's swum over five nautical miles, she's managed to live off the land all on her own," Griffiths said.

"We wish she could talk, we truly do." Yahoo News

Tony Blair has questioned the Pope's attitude towards homosexuality, arguing that religious leaders must start "rethinking" the issue.

Some older Catholics had "entrenched attitudes", while most congregations were more "liberal-minded", he added.

Mr Blair, who converted to Catholicism after resigning as UK prime minister in 2007, told the gay magazine Attitude that views had to keep "evolving".

But he added that Pope Benedict XVI also stood for "many fantastic things".

Last December the Pope angered gay and lesbian groups by arguing that blurring distinctions between males and females could lead to the "self-destruction" of the human race.

BBC News, Fossa

In the ancient mountain-top village of Fossa, surrounded by the soaring snow-capped peaks of the Appenine mountains, the aftershocks of Monday's earthquake are still being felt.

Fossa was badly hit when the quake first struck but some of the houses that remained standing are far from secure.

Just before I arrived in the village - home to about 500 or so people - a large aftershock rocked the mountain.

Four officials had a narrow escape as the building they were inspecting at the time started to collapse. They ran for their lives as it crashed to the ground around their ears.

Aftershocks continue to hamper rescue efforts in central Italy, as the death toll from Monday's earthquake rises to 250. BBC

Stretch marks are wavy stripes appearing
in the abdomen, buttocks, breast, and thighs.
They start out reddish in color and gradually
turn white. They are caused by rapid weight
gain such as typically associated with preg-
nancy and appear when the skin becomes
overstretched and the fibers in the deep layers
tear..Once they appear, they are permanent
but they do become much less noticeable
with time.
Here's the concoction for you to try to pre-
vent stretch marks:
1/2 cup virgin olive oil
1/4 cup of aloe vera gel ( gel found inside the
leaves of aloe vera).
liquid from 6 capsules of vitamin E
Liquid from 4 capsules of vitamin A
1. Mix all the ingredients in a blender
2. Pour the mixture into a jar and store in
    the refrigerator.
Apply the oil externally over the abdomen,
hips, and thighs- the places where stretch
marks commonly appear once a day. If you
do this diligently every day, you may be
able to prevent stretch marks.
You can also apply cocoa butter/or elastin
cream topically as directed on the product
label. These substances are very good for
stretch marks.

Aftermath;

Death toll rises in Italy quake

At least 207 people have been killed by the earthquake in central Italy, with 100 residents critically injured, PM Berlusconi says.
The extent of the destruction caused by the L'Aquila earthquake is being blamed at least in part on a failure to make buildings in the area earthquake-proof.

Experts have pointed to the number of modern buildings that collapsed in and around the medieval city, and to a hospital that was badly damaged.

Italy seemed worse prepared than other earthquake-prone countries, they said.

Italy has a long history of earthquakes and there are existing regulations for protecting buildings against them.

The L'Aquila earthquake was the most deadly in Italy since 1980, when more than 2,500 people were killed near Naples. BBC

FAt, is, in fact the most concentrated source
of energy available to the body. Excessive
fat intake is a mjor causative factor in obesity,
high blood pressure, coronary-heart disease,
and colon cancer and other disorders as well.
To understand how fat intake is related to these
problems, it is necessary to understand diffe-
rent types of fats.
FAts are composed of building blocks called-
fatty acids. There are three major categories
of these- saturated, ,polyunsaturated and mo-
nounsaturated.
Saturated fatty acids are found primarily in
animal products including dairy items such as
whole milk, cream, cheese, and fatty tissues
such as beef, veal, lamb, pork, and ham. The
fat marbling you can see in beef and pork are
composed of saturated fats. Some vegetable
products-including coconut oil, palm, kernel
oil and vegetable shortening are also high in
saturates.
The liver uses saturated fats to manufacture
cholesterol. therefore dietary intake of satu-
rated fats can significantly raises the blood
cholesterol levels especially the bad choles-
terol (LDL).
Polyunsaturated fatty acids are found in
greatest  abundance in corn, soybean, saf-
flower and sunflower oils. Certain fish oils
are also high in polyunsaturates. This kind
of fats tend to lower your blood cholesterol
levels. However, large amount of polyunsatu-
rates also has a tendency to reduce HDL-
"your good cholesterol". For this reason like
all fats, polyunsaturated fats are high in calo-
ries. Use must be minimal due to calories.
Monounsaturated fatty acids are found mostly
in vegetables and nut oils such as peanut,
and canola. These fats appear to reduce
blood levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) without
affecting HDL (good cholesterol) in any way,
but just the same, it should be taken in mo-
deration due its calories content.
Actually most foods-including some plant-
derived foods-contains a combination of all
three types of fatty acids, one of the types
usually predominates.
On the other hand, trans fatty acids, may
play a role in blood cholesterol levels. These
substances occur when polyunsaturated oils
are altered through hydrogenation, a process
use to harden liquid vegetable oils into solid
foods like margarine and shortening.
It is then clear if your goal is to lower your
blood cholesterol levels, polyunsaturated and
monounsaturated fats are more desirable than
saturated fats or products with trans-fatty acids.
Just as important, your total calories from fat
should not contribute more than what your body
requires daily.

Latest from Duncan Kennedy, L'Aquila

Here in the centre of the city, building after building has been left destroyed or half standing with cracks and holes.

We watched as rescue workers struggled to pull out survivors, crawling on their stomachs to try to reach those trapped inside.

There is a stream of almost ghostly figures, local people caught up in the early hours this morning in this earthquake, who are pouring past us wearing blankets.

They are pulling suitcases and luggage past this collapsed building trying to get to safety. People are wandering around in a dazed state. BBC news

At least 50 people have been killed in a powerful earthquake that struck central Italy, Italian officials say.

Five children are said to be among the dead and many remain unaccounted for as a massive search for those trapped is under way.

The 6.3-magnitude quake struck at 0330 (0130 GMT) close to L'Aquila city, 95km (60 miles) north-east of Rome.

A civil protection official said 3,000 to 10,000 buildings in the medieval city may have been damaged.

And as many as 50,000 people are feared to have been made homeless. BBC news

Most and I have seen this happen here several times (Pooor gullable foreign men falling into sexxual devious traps) that the woman here hang on his arms wears sexxy clothes and dines together with the foreigner victim to be and after he beds her and decides not to Wed her she creis rape.

Dear Prescilla ,

Please take a look at this perspective, European foreigners are eager to marry an asian, not only Filipinas because they are willing to be a housewife; that means keeping the house, caring for the husband and children upbringing. They still uphold the family values which is the traditional institution. If a child comes it is called a blessing.
For the European women, child bearing should be talked about especially if she is career oriented. Who takes the household chores, they will for sure make a compromise. This is a very organized society and all the daily chores are well scheduled.
The word pimping is hurtful, yes there parents who considers their children as some sort of investments.
A Filipina/Filipino will support a family left at home by working extra not depending on her husband´s earnings. This is really true to avoid conflict and quarrel in the family especially Germans are tihik.
We have an extended family ties and we are proud of it. You will never realize how important it is for us since you earn and live for your own sake only. This makes the world lonesome.

Its ability not just to drive along the road â€" and that on autopilot at the press of a button â€" but also to continue along its route through water, diving to depths of ten meters, breaks the bounds of the imagination of many people when they think of a car. Rinspeed’s Zero-Emission World Debut at the Geneva Motor Show - a Green “Fish” with Q-Factor

Thirty years after the movie thriller ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ hit the silver screen “sQuba” is the first car that can actually ‘fly’ under water.

“Dive it again, James!”  If the situation gets too hot for the secret agent he’ll go underground - or under water. So demonstrated impressively by Roger Moore in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me” in 1977 when he dove below the waves in a sleek vehicle that moments before seemed to be an ordinary car. The only problem: The scene never really took place; it was an animation.

With the “sQuba,” the world’s first real submersible car, the movie fake now becomes reality for visitors of the Geneva Motor Show (March 6th - 16th, 2008). Rinspeed boss Frank M. Rinderknecht (52) is known for his extraordinary automotive creations. The acknowledged James Bond enthusiast and Swiss automobile visionary kept revisiting this scene in his mind over and over: “For three decades I have tried to imagine how it might be possible to build a car that can fly under water. Now we have made this dream come true.”

Carrots is a powerful antioxidant. It builds healthy
skin and tissues. Good for the heart and reduce
the risk of cancer ( respectively lung). It also help
stop diarrhea, stimulate appetite. It helps build
healthy teeth, improve eye sight and prevent eye
and mucus membrane infection and aid diuresis.
Carrot juice is very important in the treatment of
severe illness, especially cancer. Raw carrots are
high in beta carotene, vitamin B-complex, C, D, E,
K, iron, calcium, phosphorous, sodium, potassium,
magnesium, manganese, sulphur and copper.
Wash them and add them to salads, and soups.
Before juicing, wash and do not peel the carrot. It
is best to ise organic carrots.
Carrot soup is an excellent treatment of infantile
diarrhea, even in newborns, premature infants, and
in all children suffering from acute colitis or diarrhea.
Adults with acutte enterocolitis, diarrhea, and all
colon disorders are helped  by using carrot soup
or fresh juice. Carrot soup also prevents dehydra-
tion from diarrhea by supplying water and the es-
sential minerals that have been lost.
Although carrots do not contain vitamin A, they
do contain beta-carotene which the body can con-
vert to vitamin A. Carotenoids have been linked
to the prevention of certain types of cancer espe-
cially lung cancer. Vitamin A may be taken as
supplement in the form of beta-carotene, retinols,
or a combination of the two.
Dr. J. Michael Gaziana, Cardiologist, Harvard's
Brigham and Women's hospital conducted a 5
year study that revealed a 50% reduction in heart
attack, stroke and cardiovascular deaths for those
who took 50 mgs. beta-carotene supplement
every day. " It provides a compelling reason for
people to include foojs rich in beta-carotene as
part of a balanced diet".
Enjoy carrot cake- you can use ready mix Duncan
Hines and follow instructions- just add fresh grated
carrots and macapuno strings.( in the bottle-found
in Filipino stores ) Just use corn or canola oil and
instead of water use soy milk or half and half or re-
gular milk. You will have your own version of carrot
cake- a very nutritious one.

No one knows exactly why some people develop
heart disease and others do not, but a number
of significant clues and risk factor had been iden-
tfied. One risk factor that has been receiving a
great deal of attention is homocysteine, an amino
acids formed as a result  of the metabolism of
another amino acid, methionine, which is essential
for normal growth and normal metabolism. High
homocysteine in the blood are associated with an
increased risk of cardiovascular disease that
could lead to heart attack or stroke.
There are three basic scenarios that can produce
heart attack. the first, and by far the most common,
is partial or complete blockage of one of the arteries
that supply the heart with oxygen, most often by
a blood clot. Usually the arteries had been narrowed
by years of coronary artery disease in which plaque,
which is composed of cholesterol rich deposits, pro-
teins, calcium and excess smooth muscle cells,
builds up on the arterial walls. The arterial wall thicken,
inhibiting the flow of blood to the heart muscle. The
roughening of arterial walls by deposits of plaque not
only marrows the arteries, but also makes it easier
for blood clots to form along their inner surfaces.
When a clot grows, or detaches from its place of
origin and travels through the blood vessels, it may
block a coronary artery completely, resulting in a
heart attack.
In the second heart attack scenario, an arrythmia
may set in, so that the heart is no longer pumping
enough blood to ensure its own supply.
The third scenario, a weak spot in the blood vessel,
called an aneurysm may rupture, causing internal
bleeding and disrupting normal blood flow.
In general, persons considered to be at higher risk
of heart attack are those with a family of heart
disease, those who smoke, and abuse drugs,
people with diabetes, high blood cholesterol,
or high triglyceride levels or high homocysteine
levels, sedentary people; and those who are'
under stress or who have "type A" personalities.
One third of all heart attacks occur without warning.
A constant sensation of heartburn that persists for
days and from which antacids provide no relief can
be a sign of an impending heart attack.
Most people who have heart attacks experience
the characteristic chest pain. However, not all do.
Some people feels like indigestion, others have'
no noticeable symptoms at all. This phenomenon
is often referred to as a "silent" heart attack.
Elderly people with diabetes are probably more
likely than others to have this type of heart attack.
Vitamin B-6 and B-12 and folate can prevent
homocystein from converting rapidly enough in
the body and they work together to facilitate the
breakdown of homocysteine and thus help prevent
against heart disease.
High levels of homocystiene accumulating in the'
body can damage cell membranes and blood
vessels, and increasing the risk of cardiovascular
disease , particularly atherosclerosis.

HEALTH WARNING
Supermarket Shelf Poisons

Anybody that takes Vitamin C (and most people should) avoid the following Soft drinks Sunkist, Fanta, Diet Coke, Sprite, & Pepsi Max.

These drinks contain Sodium Benzoate 211 on the label. A chemical reaction between Vitamin C and Sodium Benzoate creates Benzine a highly Carcinogenic chemical (story by Channel 9).

Benzine has the ability to severely damage the DNA in the Mitochondria to the point that it totally inactivates it, knocks it out altogether. The Mitochondria consumes Oxygen to give you energy, and if you damage it, then the cell starts to malfunction very seriously, often fatally, a whole array of Diseases has been tied to the damage to the DNA, including Parkinson's Disease and quite a lot of Neuro-Degenerative Diseases..

This is a follow-up of all the TV station's story on Mentos and Diet Coke. Don't mix these two either, they cause a chemical reaction (explosion) in the stomach, it's not only Mentos but also any Mint products. Mint Life Savers, Tic Tac's, Cool Mint's, etc, the Mint is not the culprit here but the Aspartame in the Diet Drinks, 951 on the label, also   avoid 950 Acelsultame F (same thing). Aspartame poisoning has been scientifically linked to 92 Symptoms of Disease ... Still going to drink your Diet Drinks???

Most European countries have forbidden the Importing and use in their Country of Aspartame including all makes of Saccharin, example Equal, Nutra-Sweet,  Spoonful & Diet Drinks, including 6,000 consumer Good's and Beverages, sold on the Supermarket shelves .  this ban affect's all use of this product in any type o consumable infringement and will carry penalties that go from 9.000 euros to 90,000 Euros.

Mexico is also considering banning all 6,000 products of Aspartame on its Supermarket shelves. In Mexico Aspartame is known as Rumsfeld's Disease, after George Bush's mate Donald Rumsfeld. The Nutra-Sweet company and Searle are owned by Monsanto who appointed Rumsfeld as their General Manager, so they could use his clout with Parliament to get this Deadly Poison passed by the FDA   and boost their sales of Aspartame.

Avoid all Toothpastes made in China , especially Colgate's they contain Ethylene Glycol..  This is an Anti-Freezing agent, Highly Toxic  and even Fatal -- it destroys the Liver, Kidney, Lung, Blood Cells, Heart and the Nervous System. It is also in some Mouth Washes, Make-up, Aftershave, Baby Powder and Wipes, Shampoo, and Deodorants.

Avoid Smarties; they contain almost every Toxic artificial colour on the market. The worst are 102, 104, and the worst of all 110 Carcinogenic, 124 undesirable, 127 Carcinogenic 128 Extreme Caution, 129,131, and 133 are also carcinogenic. To top it off Smarties are not even made of Chocolate (neither are Tim Tam's). Synthetic Chocolate has non-nutritional food value whatsoever.

Read your labels  -- it may one day save your life.

Economic wealth is not evenly distributed, as long as there´s no remedy to this social injustice and exploitations, illegal immigration will not stop. No light in the tunnel for this inveterate North-South conflict.

You are right Lorenzo, a cousin works in Non-governmental agency to assist undocumented  immigrants in Los Angeles.
#7690
I have been abroad to The Netherlands (Amsterdam) and to Ukraine and know that there is no such thing as illegal immigrant aid over there, or in most nations.

For your information Lorenzo, Dr Jose Maria Sison and family are staying in Utrecht, and they are getting support from the government out of humanitarian cause.

Hold your breath Lorenzo, Pres Obama wishes to close the Guantanamo and release the prisoners, dinhi niya i-itsa sa Europe! Paloma ang mga Kano ug pamereso, walay klaro nga terorista jud kining mga tawhana, pataka man lang si George kay na-paranoid na, unya karon Europe ang masagop.

ps
Sorry bridge, here is the english translations of my postings;  I take the Americans to be blamed for holding prisoners who are not really identified as terrorist since George (meaning Bush) is getting paranoid already, and now Europe is being asked to take them into their territory.
#7693
After the first visit of Pres Obama to Europe, he requested the countries to accept the ex-prisoners of Guantanamo, the taxpayers were speechless.
