Yes, indeed. Men are called to love their wives as Jesus Christ loved the Church, so much by dying for her.

"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."
   -Ephesians 5:25

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.  Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.  She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.  She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.  She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.  She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls.  She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.  She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.  She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.  In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.  She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.  When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.  She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.  Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.  She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.  She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.  She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.  She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.  Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:  "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."  Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Answer:

That you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.  If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?  Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Why must we love our enemies and bless those who usher vile and evil words against us?
#7505
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

-Matthew 5:43-44

But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.  What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ  and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.

There are four things on earth that are small but usually wise.  Ants--they aren't strong, but they store up food all winter. Hyraxes--they aren't powerful, but they make their homes among the rocks. Locust--they have no king but they march in formation. Lizards--they are easy to catch, but they are found even in kings' palaces.

This fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah concerning Jesus: "Look at my Servant, who I have chosen. He is my Beloved, who pleases me.  I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.  He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public.  He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally he will cause justice to be victorious.  And his name will be the hope of all the world.

Answer:

The Trinity is one of the most difficult realities to comprehend but it might be a helpful start to recognize the distinction between a “being” and a “person.”

God is one Being (the one and only divine Being). This divine Being exists as three Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). This is unusual to us because each human being is only one person and it might seem that every being has to be one person: one being = one person.

But that’s simply not always the case. For example, a dog is a being but is not a person. A tree is a being but is not a person. In these cases, one being = zero persons. On the other hand, an angel is a being and is a person. In their case, angelic beings are similar to human beings: one being = one person.

Once you recognize that not every being is always exactly one person, it might be easier to grasp God’s unique reality, the Trinity: one Being = three Persons.

I hope this is a helpful start.

Pit-Senyor !!! - A cheer devotion being heard all over Cebu City, Philippines.

But what really is PIT SENYOR?

Some said it originated from the phrase "Sangpit sa Senyor (Call to Senyor), which the first word shortened to Pit. Others think it is just a mere cheer to go with the festival.

Word could be also stands for:

P for Poverty - Being poor in pride

I for Innocence - Innocence in Sin

T for Trust- Faith in the Lord

as we shout for "Pit Senyor!!!" we also reminded for this Senyor for Poverty,Innocence and Trust for the Holy Child.

For you what is the meaning of Pit Senyor?

During the late 18th century and early 19th century, Europe experienced a dramatic population boom. That population boom was the catalyst for the Industrial Revolution, which in turn led to the development and discovery of new medicinal cures, technological achievement, and public policy techniques.

It's human nature to reproduce. It's not human nature for large governments to tell people to "limit" population growth. Look at China and their unnatural 1 child policy, which has resulted in social and political strains on the average Chinese family.

This article is written by a biased liberal whose objective is to herald his/her pro-choice agenda. And attacking the church at the same time.

They have the audacity to criticize the Church for defending life and protecting and proliferating Revealed Truth for the Salvation of those who would hear. May God pardon them for this injury to His Bride, the One, Holy and Roman Catholic Church.

Instead, exhort one another every day, while it is still called ‘today,’ so that none of you may become hardened through the falseness of sin.

The critical point: mobilization of the ulnar nerve

beautiful...
#7537
Results
Forty-two patients with <100° of elbow flexion as an extrinsic contracture following trauma had a surgical release of the elbow at a median of ten months postinjury.
#7538
Step 1: Mobilize the Ulnar Nerve
Mobilize the ulnar nerve through the cubital tunnel with the accompanying superior ulnar collateral vessels.

Step 2: Dissect the Triceps and Resect the Posterior Aspect of the Capsule
Dissect the triceps from the distal part of the humerus and resect the posterior aspect of the capsule to expose the olecranon tip and fossa.

Step 3: Resect the Posterior Band of the Medial Collateral Ligament
Release the posterior band of the medial collateral ligament while continually checking the flexion arc until >130° of flexion can be achieved.

Step 4: Resect the Anterior Aspect of the Capsule
Perform an anterior approach if there is persistent flexion contracture or any impingement restricting full flexion.

Step 5: Lengthen the Triceps If Indicated
Consider triceps lengthening if you cannot achieve >130° of passive flexion with two fingers.

Step 6: Transpose the Ulnar Nerve Anteriorly
Locate the released ulnar nerve over the medial humeral epicondyle on the fascia overlying the common flexor-pronator muscles.

Step 7: Postoperative Management
Physical therapy consists of active-assisted and gentle passive flexion and extension exercises of the elbow, usually for two to six months.
#7539
We describe a surgical release for patients who have a lack of elbow flexion limiting the ability to perform activities of daily living after trauma.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Let us again examine the bravery of St. Ignatius of Antioch by reading his letters:

The believing have, in love, the character of God the Father by Jesus Christ, by whom, if we are not in readiness to die into his suffering, his life is not in us.
(Letter to the Magnesians 5)

May I enjoy the wild beasts that are prepared for me. I pray that they would be found eager to rush at me, and I will also entice them to devour me speedily and not deal with me as some, whom out of fear they have not touched. If they are unwilling to assail me, I will compel them to do so. Pardon me; I know what is to my benefit. Now I begin to be a disciple. Let no one, of things visible or invisible, prevent me from attaining to Jesus Christ. Let fire and the cross; let wild beasts; let tearings, breakings, and dislocation of bones; let cutting off of limbs; let shatterings of the whole body; and let all the evil torments of the devil come upon me; only let me attain to Jesus Christ. Question and Answer / Re: What exactly is a soul?
January 15, 2013, 03:41:24 PM
The glossary at the back of the U.S. version of the Catechism of the Catholic Church defines "soul" as follows:

QuoteThe spiritual principle of human beings. The soul is the subject of human consciousness and freedom; soul and body together form one unique human nature. Each human soul is individual and immortal, immediately created by God. The soul does not die with the body, from which it is separated by death, and with which it will be reunited in the final resurrection.

Here’s more:

QuoteThe human person, created in the image of God, is a being at once corporeal and spiritual. The biblical account expresses this reality in symbolic language when it affirms that "then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being." Man, whole and entire, is therefore willed by God. In Sacred Scripture the term "soul" often refers to human life or the entire human person. But "soul" also refers to the innermost.aspect of man, that which is of greatest value in him, that by which he is most especially in God’s image: "Soul" signifies the spiritual principle in man. The human body shares in the dignity of "the image of God": it is a human body precisely because it is animated by a spiritual soul, and it is the whole human person that is intended to become, in the body of Christ, a temple of the Spirit. Man, though made of body and soul, is a unity. Through his very bodily condition he sums up in himself the elements of the material world. Through him they are thus brought to their highest perfection and can raise their voice in praise freely given to the Creator. For this reason man may not despise his bodily life. Rather he is obliged to regard his body as good and to hold it in honor since God has created it and will raise it up on the last day. The unity of soul and body is so profound that one has to consider the soul to be the "form" of the body: i.e., it is because of its spiritual soul that the body made of matter becomes a living, human body; spirit and matter, in man, are not two natures united, but rather their union forms a single nature. The Church teaches that every spiritual soul is created immediately by Godâ€"it is not "produced" by the parentsâ€"and also that it is immortal: It does not perish when it separates from the body at death, and it will be reunited with the body at the final Resurrection. Sometimes the soul is distinguished from the spirit: St. Paul for instance prays that God may sanctify his people "wholly," with "spirit and soul and body" kept sound and blameless at the Lord’s coming. The Church teaches that this distinction does not introduce a duality into the soul. "Spirit" signifies that from creation man is ordered to a supernatural end and that his soul can gratuitously be raised beyond all it deserves to communion with God. The spiritual tradition of the Church also emphasizes the heart, in the biblical sense of the depths of one’s being, where the person decides for or against God. (CCC 362-368)

What exactly is a soul?
#7573
Answer:

You're right in characterizing Lucifer's rebellion as an insane act. Don't forget that, although Lucifer had a superabundance of spiritual gifts, he was also endowed, as we are, with the gift of free will. God left him free to choose good over evil, and, as we know, he chose evil.

Consider Adam and Eve. Before the Fall they possessed immortality, control over their passions and appetites, the complete integrity of their wills, as well as a human intelligence far superior to that which we have now. Yet, like Lucifer, they chose to commit a mortal sin. This means God allowed them to exercise their free will.

As for the particular sin the bad angels committed, many theologians believe that in their pre-fallen state the angels were given a foreknowledge of humans (who would be inferior to them), as well as a foreknowledge that God himself (the second Person of the Trinity) would be incarnated as a man and redeem the universe through his death on the cross.

This revelation angered Lucifer because it meant he and the other angels would have to worship God incarnate. Lucifer and the other angels who fell were so proud of being superior to men that their overweening arrogance wouldn't allow them to worship Jesus Christ the God-Man. This refusal--this non serviam--stemmed from pride. That, anyway, is the theologian's theory.

Question;

Revelation 12:7-9 says Lucifer and his angels fought against God and were cast out of heaven. Since Lucifer was a highly intelligent creature--not to mention the fact that he had an intimate knowledge of God--I can't comprehend how he (or any angel for that matter) could rebel against God. That seems to be utterly insane. What was the particular sin that Lucifer and the angels allied with him committed?

Answer:

You are thinking very much inside the box. You can’t do that when you think of heaven. It’s not just another earth-like human situation with clouds and pastel cherubs added. What you need to do is to ask yourself if you really think heaven is for God’s sake. I mean this literally. It’s all about God. God is infinite goodness, goodness without limit, pure unlimited love. This is something beyond any experience we are capable of imagining at this time.

Question:

How can we find happiness in heaven if someone we love/know goes to hell? Some people say we will be satisfied with God's justice, but this sounds rather cruel and cold.

Answer

You have an obligation to raise your children in the truth, teaching them genuine morals. This may mean unrest in your family, as you have already seen. But it may comfort you to know that Jesus recognized family division would sometimes be an issue for those who remain faithful to him:

QuoteDo not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s foes will be those of his own household. He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. (Mt 10:34-38)

The Navarre Bible commentary explains:

QuoteOur Lord has not come to bring a false sense of earthly peaceâ€"the sort of tranquility the self-seeking person yearns for; he wants us to struggle against our own passions and against sin and its effects . . . The word of God in fact leads to these divisions mentioned here. It can lead, even within families, to those who embrace the faith being regarded as enemies by relatives who resist the word of truth. (109-110)

Implore your parents and other family members to embrace authentic morality and join you in the proper spiritual nurturing of your children. And while it is not absolutely necessary that everyone who has any influence in your children’s lives be practicing Catholics, you must not choose role models who believe or practice morals so fundamentally different from yours that they threaten the spiritual development of your children.

Ultimately, you cannot make your family members’ choices for themâ€"God gave them free will and they have the power to abuse it by rejecting authentic morality. If they do choose wrongly then you have a moral obligation to protect your children from their immoral influences. But recognize that such tragic division occurs at their hands, not yours.

You all are in our prayers.

Question:

My siblings and I were raised in a good Catholic home but now, as adults, we no longer all share the same moral codeâ€"some follow authentic Catholic Church doctrine while others rationalize that their immoral lifestyles are actually moral. Any time I try to help family members, I’m viewed as an intolerant religious freak. Even my parents consider my efforts to be out of line and hurtful. So I’ve come to fear for the spiritual wellbeing of my own children, and the need to protect them from the wrong influences is painfully clear. This could mean further division in the familyâ€"even between my kids and their grandparents if my parents don’t become proper role models. But some people think I should do whatever is necessary to keep peace in the family. What should my priorities beâ€"peace or morality?

Answer:

It depends partly on what you do when you keep your mouth open. Make sure that you conduct yourself, whatever you do, whatever you say, in a charitable manner. It's not enough to protest "I love non-Catholics" if you bash them with uncharitable words. We run into lots of anti-Catholics who bash Catholics and say, at the same time, how much they love "Romanists."

If this kind of thing isn't a failing of yours, then we can consider the next point. Should you respect other people's beliefs? You need to distinguish between respecting other people and respecting all or part of their beliefs.

Five centuries ago, should you have respected the Aztec belief in human sacrifice? Today should you respect the New Age belief that many people walking around now used to be princes or princesses in ancient Egypt? "No" to both. Such beliefs aren't worthy of respect because they're simply wrong. (Who would insist that a geophysicist "respect" the belief that the Earth is flat?)

You never should respect error, though you should respect the erring, because God loves them. You should respect whatever is true in other religions. It's not an all-or-nothing proposition. You can reject the errors while respecting the true elements.

Question:

I'm criticized because I'm willing to talk about not just what unites Catholics and non-Catholics, but also about what divides them. I'm told I should just respect other people's beliefs and keep my mouth shut. What do you think?

Answer:

Many times it is not possible to evangelize a relative directly. Jesus himself pointed out that a prophet has no honor in his own country and among his own people and his own household (Mt 13:57). If she will not take religious literature and responds badly to religious discussions then the best thing you can do is pray for her and love her and refrain from doing things that antagonize her.

This does not mean that one should capitulate to Jehovah’s Witnesses sensibilities. I wouldn’t take a crucifix off my wall or anything like that. If she wants you to accept her the way she is, she needs to accept you the way you are. Be a loving Catholic role model for her, pray, and by God’s grace things may turn around.

Regarding her soul, there may well be danger there. We cannot see her heart, and what you should do is simply be a loving brother for her and entrust the care of her soul to God. He works miracles.

Question:

My sister-in-law left the Catholic Church about 10 years ago and joined the Jehovah's Witnesses. Her "incoming threat" radar is turned to absolute maximum, and any slight religious comment is interpreted as a major attack. She also won't accept religious literature. Is her soul in trouble? How can I love her back to the Church?

Answer:

In a sense, they do. To the extent one can describe an ecclesial body as Christian at all, it follows that it must hold to the basics about Christ. (This doesn't mean such a group is entirely orthodox, only that it isn't so heretical as to forfeit entirely the name Christian.)

Both Catholics and Protestants believe Christ to be true God and true man. Both believe Jesus to be the Second Person of the Trinity. And both believe in the Virgin Birth and bodily Resurrection of Christ. So both Catholics and Protestants can rightly be called Christians, though from the Catholic perspective Protestants are heterodox on a number of key points.

At the same time, there are many groups which style themselves Christian while denying basic christological tenets.

Jehovah's Witnesses, for instance, claim Jesus isn't Almighty God, Jehovah, but Michael the Archangel.

Mormons deny Jesus and the Father are the same God in two different Persons.

Christian Scientists, by rejecting the objective reality of the material world, repudiate the Incarnation as Christians traditionally have understood this doctrine.

There are also "liberal" theologians in the Catholic Church and within Protestant denominations who deny the divinity of Christ, his Virgin Birth, and his bodily Resurrection. As the late Hans Urs von Balthasar observed about a certain "liberal" Catholic theologian, when such basic Christological beliefs are abandoned, it's theologically incorrect to describe the one rejecting them as a Christian.

Obviously we Catholics can't forbid heterodox people from describing themselves as Christians, but we can make it clear they don't believe what Scripture and Tradition tell us about Christ.

Don't all Christian churches believe the same thing about Christ?

That may be your philosophy, but it's not what Jesus said. He told his disciples to take the gospel to all men: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Mt 28:18-19).

This is known as the Great Commission, not the Great Imposition.

Jesus commanded his followers to make others Christians through preaching and baptism. We must all, in one capacity or another, be evangelists and present the truth of Christ to those who don't yet accept it. In so doing, we aren't imposing anything on them. Christ wants a free acceptance of himself and his message.

Evangelization is not an imposition but an act of charity. Through it the whole truth about God and man is made known to people in need. Those outside the Church hear the message of Christ the Savior and become united with him in his Church, his Mystical Body.

"Live and let live" is a false philosophy. It reduces to Cain's question, "Am I my brother's keeper?" In things spiritual as well as things material, we are indeed our brother's keeper.

Asking them about the bacterial types that infect burn-wound patients. And quizzed them on types of antibiotics. Hahaha! One cute nursing student said to me, "Okay, Doctor, why don't you tell me about...." she reversed it on me. Gi askahan ko nija about antibiotic types. Kuyawang bajeha!

Very beautiful and smart student nurse. ;D

I smiled today when I got back from work because when I checked my mail, I found a refund check for $70. Apparently I over-payed the electricity bill the other month. I didn't think so. Its just amazing how God sends His blessings according to His own time.

I had just talked to my good friend Don. It was good to hear that he is doing well despite his break-up. Luoy pod siya. May God give him the strength to heal his broken heart. I pray that the good Lord send a kind woman to him who will love him as he loves and as he deserves to be loved. When doors close, God opens new doors for us....
